1980 Ford Pinto 4-Speed

This 1980 Ford Pinto two-door sedan was sold new by Doenges-Glass Ford of Aurora, Colorado, and it is said to have spent time in California before it was acquired by the current owner in February 2019. The car is finished in yellow over black upholstery and powered by a 2.3-liter inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes air conditioning, a Pioneer CD stereo, a trailer hitch, front disc brakes, and 13″ aluminum wheels. Work during current ownership reportedly included performing a coolant flush, servicing the brakes and the fuel system, and replacing a wheel cylinder, the carburetor, the differential seal, and the interior carpeting. This Pinto sedan shows 72k miles and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, a copy of a 1980 sales contract, a workshop manual, spare and removed parts, and a clean Utah title in the seller’s name.

Originally finished in Bright Yellow (6N), this final-year example was refinished during prior ownership. Equipment includes a Hidden Hitch trailer hitch, a locking fuel filler cap, dual mirrors, and chrome-plated aluminum bumpers with black plastic trim. The seller states that the right-hand door latch was replaced. Photos show corrosion on the lower-rear corner of the right-side door.

Polished 13″ aluminum wheels are mounted with 185/70 Doral SDL 70 tires. The car is equipped with front disc brakes, and the seller states that the rear drum brakes were serviced and fitted with one replacement wheel cylinder.

The cabin features seats trimmed in black vinyl with patterned cloth inserts. Equipment includes a Pioneer CD stereo, door-mounted aftermarket speakers, Ford-branded carpeted floor mats, and air conditioning that was added under previous ownership. The dash pad and carpets were reportedly replaced during current ownership. The seller states that the cigarette lighter does not work.

The two-spoke steering wheel is fitted with an aftermarket removable cover and sits ahead of an 85-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 72k miles, approximately 1k of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.3-liter inline-four drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Service during current ownership reportedly included performing a coolant flush along with replacing the carburetor, fuel pump, fuel-level sending unit, fuel filler tube gasket, and differential seal. Oil seepage is noted by the seller.
