This Datsun 280ZX got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1982 Datsun 280ZX is a beige-over-beige example that was acquired new by the current owner in Alabama and is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. It is equipped with 14″ aluminum alloy wheels, power steering, a front spoiler, power-adjustable side mirrors, bucket seats, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, and an Alpine stereo. Paintwork and an interior refresh were performed in 2007, and service in 2017 included draining and resealing the fuel tank and replacing the fuel filter and injectors. This S130 280ZX is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with service records, manufacturer’s literature, initial purchase documents, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Alabama title.
The car left the factory finished in Cameo Beige and features a NACA duct on the hood as well as a front spoiler, a vented hood, a rear wiper, power-adjustable side mirrors, and a power-retractable antenna. The inside of the hood was repainted in 2007, and rust repairs were performed on the door jambs, rocker panels, and quarter panels in 2008. The grille, bumpers, and trim were repaired and the mirrors were refinished at that time, and the right rear glass and hatch trim were replaced in 2017. The 14″ aluminum alloy wheels are mounted with 195/70 Bridgestone Insignia SE200 tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at each corner, and the car is equipped with power steering.
The bucket seats are trimmed in beige velour and vinyl and were reupholstered in 2007 along with replacement of the carpeting, dashboard, and interior trim pieces. Amenities include a rear window defroster, power windows and locks, all-weather floor mats, cruise control, air conditioning, and an Alpine stereo. Wear is visible on the steering column cover, and the condition of the rear cargo area floor is visible in the gallery.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature and dual-scale fuel levels. A digital quartz clock is mounted atop the center stack in addition to auxiliary gauges for oil pressure and voltage. The six-digit odometer shows 53k miles, all of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer drive cable was repaired in 2008, and the speedometer gear housing was replaced in 2018. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.8-liter L28E inline-six features fuel injection for a factory-rated output of 145 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque. Service in 2017 included draining and resealing the fuel tank and replacing the fuel filter and injectors.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The exhaust pipe and muffler were replaced in 2018. Corrosion is present on underside components, additional photos of which are provided in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Alabama from the first entry in October 2008.
