This 1983 Chevrolet Suburban K20 is a four-wheel-drive example that was originally delivered to Wentworth Chevrolet in Portland, Oregon and is said to have been used by the Pacific Power and Light Company in central Oregon until being acquired by the selling dealer in 2015. Finished in Dark Yellow over a beige vinyl interior, the truck is powered by a 350ci HD V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and a locking rear differential. Additional factory equipment includes skid plates and tow hooks, quad front shocks, and a pre-cleaner for the air intake. This Suburban is offered at no reserve by the selling dealer with a window sticker, copies of the original purchase order and title, a communications radio reference plate, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Oregon title.
The body is finished in Wheatland Yellow, and equipment includes chrome bumpers, white-painted mirrors, barn-style rear doors, and a rear receiver hitch. Noted imperfections include paint chips in the rocker panels, bent sheet metal from overextending the driver’s door, blemishes on the hood, and various dents and scratches as shown up close in the gallery below.
White 16″ steel wheels fitted with Chevrolet hubcaps wear older Radial All Terrain SXT tires that should be replaced per the selling dealer. A spare is located in the cargo area, and the Warn manually-locking front hubs were reportedly installed during prior ownership.
The truck was ordered with a Medium Almond vinyl bench seat, and no second-row seat was originally fitted. The seller located and installed a second-row split-folding bench from a later Suburban during his ownership. Black rubber mats cover the floors in the passenger compartment, while the paint on the uncovered cargo floor is worn. The headliner has been removed, and spray-in foam has been added, as have two dome lights controlled by separate switches. Several splits are noted in the dash along with residue from removed stickers.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames stock instrumentation including an 85-mph speedometer and a five-digit mechanical odometer reading approximately 62k miles, around 1,500 of which are said to have been added during the seller’s four-year ownership. Stewart-Warner coolant temperature and oil pressure gauges are mounted on top of the dash, and a trailer brake controller fitted by the seller is mounted underneath. The truck is not equipped with a radio or air conditioning.
The M-code 350ci V8 features a single carburetor and is equipped with a stock pre-cleaner engine air filter. The seller performed a tune-up after acquiring the truck. A cold-start video is viewable here.
A column-shifted four-speed automatic transmission and two-speed transfer case send power to the rear or all four wheels through a 14-bolt rear end fitted with 4.11 gears and a locking differential. Stock equipment includes skid plates and recovery hooks, quad front shock absorbers, and a transmission oil cooler.
A factory window sticker lists initial delivery to Wentworth Chevrolet of Portland, Oregon and shows a total new price of $14,776. The sale includes copies of the original purchase order and title as well as manufacturer’s literature.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration in Oregon from its first entry in 2008 through its most recent update in February 2019. In-vehicle and drive-by videos are provided below.
