1983 Datsun 280ZX Turbo 2+2 5-Speed

This 1983 Datsun 280ZX Turbo 2+2 is finished in burgundy over red upholstery and powered by a turbocharged 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car spent much of its life in Georgia where it was acquired by its current owner in 2021, reportedly from the original owner. Equipment includes the leather and digital interior packages, a T-bar roof with glass panels, fog lights, headlights washers, automatic climate control, cruise control, and an Ambience sound system. This 280ZX shows 116k miles and is now offered on dealer consignment with manufacturer’s literature, a window sticker, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.

The car was finished in Burgundy Mist Metallic from the factory and was repainted in 2012. Features include black bodyside moldings, Turbo side graphics, headlight washers, fog lights, a NACA hood duct, a T-bar roof with glass panels, a power-retractable antenna, heated side mirrors, and twin exhaust outlets with chrome finishers. The gasket for the T-bar roof panels is worn.

The 15″ alloy wheels wear 205/60 Michelin Defender tires. The car is equipped with independent front MacPherson strut and semi-trailing arm rear suspension. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs.

The 2+2 cabin features seats upholstered in red cloth with leather inserts complemented by a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Additional appointments include ZX-branded floor mats, automatic climate control, power windows and locks, cruise control, and an Ambience sound system with a cassette stereo. Noted flaws include intermittent functioning of the driver-side window switch and a crack in the cover of an interior roof panel shade.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a digital instrument cluster that includes a speedometer, a tachometer, and readouts for coolant temperature and fuel level. Analog gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, and boost are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 116k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership.

The turbocharged and fuel injected 2.8-liter inline-six features an electronic engine control system and sends power to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

The window sticker shows initial delivery to Standefer Motor Sales of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and lists factory colors, options, and a total manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $19,774.

Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with a binder containing service records.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Tennessee and Georgia.
