This 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was imported from Colombia to the US in 2017 and was subsequently acquired by the seller. It is finished in beige over replacement gray upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is equipped with replacement manually locking front hubs, aftermarket 16″ wheels, a heater, and replacement interior components including the center console, seatbelts, door panels, and seat foam and frames. Modifications include a black Bestop soft top, a winch, an HEI distributor, a 2″ suspension lift, Old Man Emu shock absorbers, and a JT Outfitters front disc brake conversion kit with an aftermarket power brake booster. Work performed under current ownership reportedly included overhauling the cooling system, power-steering system, and front steering knuckles as well as replacing the carburetor, Pitman arm, spark plugs, ignition wires, and exhaust components. This FJ40 is now offered with a clean Missouri title in the seller’s name, half doors, and service records.
The seller states that the truck was refinished in beige under previous ownership. Features include a pintle hitch, a winch, dual mirrors, and a Bestop soft top. Corrosion is noted by the seller on the rear ambulance-style doors and the passenger-side front fender. Per the seller, the windshield washer pump is inoperative and the quarter-window gaskets are in need of replacement. Half doors are included in the sale.
Aftermarket 16″ eight-hole wheels are wrapped in 265/75 Kumho Roadventure AT51 tires. Per the seller, the truck is equipped with a 2″ suspension lift, Old Man Emu shock absorbers, a JT Outfitters front disc brake conversion kit, and an aftermarket power brake booster. Work performed under current ownership reportedly included overhauling the front steering knuckles and the power steering box and pump as well as installing a replacement Pitman arm, rear drag-link end, and manually locking front hubs.
The front bucket seats and the inward-facing rear jump seats reportedly feature replacement frames, foam, headrests, and gray upholstery, and they are complemented by a color-coordinated replacement center console and door panels. Features include a heater, a digital clock, crank windows, and replacement seatbelts as well as a Dual stereo head unit with Bluetooth connectivity.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-km/h speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 7k kilometers (~4k miles), approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The seller notes that the 4WD status light is inoperative.
The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six is equipped with a single carburetor. Work performed under current ownership is said to have included replacing the battery, spark plugs, and ignition wires as well as the muffler and exhaust system.
Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller notes flaking undercoating material on the underside.
The truck has been fitted with a Replacement Identification Number by the state of Missouri, the first 10 digits of which match the stamped frame number and the number inscribed on the riveted manufacturer’s data plate. Photos of the data plate, frame stamping, and engine stamping can be viewed in the gallery below.
The current Missouri title carries a “NON-USA-STD Motor Vehicle” notation.
