1,500-Mile 1983 Volvo 240 DL

This 1983 Volvo 240 DL sedan was delivered new to Frank Demma Volvo in Addison, Illinois, and it remained registered with its original owner until it was acquired by the current owner in 2022. Finished in Dark Brown over beige cloth upholstery, the car is powered by a 2.3L inline-four mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 14″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, mud flaps, power door locks, and a cabin heater. Over $6k in service was performed in December 2022, with work included replacing the timing belt, drive belts, thermostat, fan clutch, fuel sending unit, fuel pump, fuel tank, brake master cylinder, and brake hoses in addition to rebuilding the fuel injectors. This 240 shows 1,500 miles and is now offered on dealer consignment in Illinois with a window sticker, 1983 purchase documents, manufacturer’s literature, a tool roll, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Tennessee title.

The car is finished in Dark Brown and features black bumpers, bright trim, mud flaps, and a single exhaust outlet. Detailed photos of the exterior are presented in the gallery below.

Steel 14″ wheels wear Volvo-branded covers and are mounted with 175-series Dunlop SP Elite tires showing 2018 and 2019 date codes. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at all four corners. The brake master cylinder and brake hoses were replaced and a brake fluid flush was performed in December 2022.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in beige cloth and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Appointments include power door locks, carpeted floor mats, a locking glove compartment, and a cabin heater.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts an 85-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 1,500 miles, approximately 10 of which were added under current ownership.

The 2.3-liter inline-four was factory equipped with a cross-flow cylinder head, a single overhead camshaft, and Bosch fuel injection. Service performed in December 2022 involved replacing the timing belt, drive belts, thermostat, fan clutch, fuel sending unit, fuel pump, and fuel tank as well as rebuilding the fuel injectors, flushing the coolant, and performing an oil change.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The fluids in the transmission and differential were changed in December 2022. Corrosion is visible on the exhaust system.

The window sticker lists factory colors, equipment, and a total suggested retail price of $12,246.80. Manufacturer’s literature, 1983 purchase documents, and a tool roll are also included in the sale.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Illinois.

There are gaps in entries between 1983 and 1992 and between 1993 and 2023.
