1984 Ford Mustang SVO

This 1984 Ford Mustang SVO hatchback is finished in Medium Canyon Red Glow over Charcoal cloth upholstery, and it is powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential, 16″ alloy wheels, fog lights with Marchal covers, a biplane rear spoiler, front sport seats, air conditioning, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. The car is said to have been purchased by the seller from its original owner in 2019. This Mustang SVO shows 23k miles and is now offered in Connecticut with manufacturer’s literature, a Marti report, SVO-related memorabilia, a clean Carfax report, and Vermont registration in the seller’s name.

Ford’s Special Vehicle Operations gave the Mustang SVO a biplane rear spoiler and revised front-end styling as well as thinner rocker panels and an offset hood scoop to feed the top-mount intercooler. This example is finished in Medium Canyon Red Glow and features a power antenna, black trim, dual exhaust outlets, and fog lights with Marchal covers. The right-side driving light housing is cracked and the seller notes paint chips on the left door.

The 16″ cast aluminum wheels are mounted with 225/60 Goodyear tires that need to be replaced due to old age. The SVO was equipped from the factory with adjustable Koni dampers, power steering, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.

The cabin features seating surfaces trimmed in Charcoal cloth with a color-coordinated dashboard, center console, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include articulated front sport seats, air conditioning, power windows and locks, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and a premium sound system.

The leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,800-rpm redline as well as gauges for boost pressure, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.

The turbocharged and intercooled 2.3-liter inline-four features electronic fuel injection, and it was factory rated at 175 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque when new. Bi-annual oil changes were reportedly carried out under current ownership.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.

Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with Mustang SVO-related memorabilia.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Vermont from its first entry in July 2022 onward.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
