This 1987 Volvo 240 sedan was purchased by the seller in 2020, and it now shows 152k miles following history in Washington, Oregon, and New York. The car is finished in silver over blue cloth upholstery and is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-four linked with a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes power steering, 14″ pressed steel wheels with trim rings, a Kenwood stereo, and air conditioning. Work performed under current ownership is said to have included rebuilding the cylinder head, installing sound-deadening material and an IPD muffler, servicing the air conditioning system, and replacing the tires, rear brake components, and taillights. This 240 sedan is offered in Massachusetts with a Bentley repair manual, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean New York title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Silver (130) and features mudguards, a fixed antenna, and black mirror caps and window trim. The hood was repaired and the windshield and taillights were replaced under current ownership, per the seller, who notes evidence of hail damage around the body. There are scratches on the underside of the front bumper cover and the aftermarket fog lights are not wired. A November 2019 entry on the Carfax report lists “minor damage” to the left front corner of the car.
The 14″ pressed steel wheels feature trim rings and are wearing Michelin Defender tires that were mounted in 2021. The car was factory-equipped with power steering as well as a MacPherson strut front suspension with coil springs and a live rear axle carried by longitudinal control arms and torque rods with coil springs. Stopping is provided by power-assisted front and rear discs. The rear brake components were replaced in 2023, and the spare tire is missing.
The seating surfaces are trimmed in blue cloth, and interior appointments include a rear bench, a Kenwood stereo, hand-crank windows, and air conditioning, the latter of which was serviced under current ownership. Sound-deadening material, USB charging ports, and a dashboard cover have been added. The center console, driver’s seat belt panel, and dashboard are cracked, and the front seat heaters do not work.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 152k miles, approximately 13k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.3-liter inline-four was factory rated at 114 horsepower and 136 lb-ft of torque of torque. The cylinder head is said to have been rebuilt in 2023, and additional work performed under current ownership reportedly included installing an IPD muffler, changing the fluids, and replacing the hood insulation.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
The Carfax report lists the aforementioned November 2019 damage.
