This 1988 Ford Thunderbird Coupe is said to be one of 50 examples modified and sold by Bill Elliott Ford of Dahlonega, Georgia, as a tribute to the eponymous NASCAR driver. The car is finished in Scarlet Red over matching cloth upholstery and is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a Signature Edition body kit and graphics, 14″ aluminum wheels, tinted windows, a six-way power adjustable driver’s seat, embroidered floor mats, a cassette stereo, and power windows and locks. The car remained registered in Georgia with the original owner until the selling dealer’s acquisition in September 2021. Subsequent service involved an oil change and replacement of the fuel tank and fuel pump. This Thunderbird has 313 miles and is offered by the selling dealer in North Carolina with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, original purchase documents, a Deluxe Marti Report, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
The car is finished in Scarlet Red (2D) and features a body kit comprised of front and rear spoilers, extended rocker panels, and flared front and rear bumper covers finished in white. Additional features include a black rear spoiler, gold pin striping and hand painted graphics, dual exhaust outlets, power-adjustable mirrors, and gold-accented side moldings and bumper rub strips. A window sticker remains affixed to the passenger-door window.
Factory 14″ cast aluminum wheels are wrapped in 235/60 Firestone S/S Radial tires that are believed to have been produced in 1988. The car is equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by discs up front and drums in the rear.
The interior features seating surfaces upholstered in Scarlet Red (HD) cloth along with a matching dash pad, door panels, carpeting, and embroidered floor mats. The dash wears black trim with brushed metal surfaces, and additional amenities include a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, air conditioning, tilt steering, a rear window defroster, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and power windows, mirrors, and door locks.
The dual spoke steering wheel frames a digital speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, engine temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 313 miles.
The naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 features electronic fuel injection and was rated at 155 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque when new. Service in preparation for the sale is said to have involved an oil change and replacement of the fuel tank, pump, filter, and sending unit.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Additional underside photos can be viewed in the gallery.
The Carfax Report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in Georgia from new.
