2k-Mile 1988 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA

This 1988 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am shows just under 2k miles and was sold new by Wiese Pontiac Buick GMC in Franklin, Indiana. Power is supplied by a fuel-injected 5.7-liter L98 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip rear axle. The car is finished in Bright Red over a gray leather interior and equipped with the GTA Package, featuring diamond-spoke alloy wheels, a monochromatic paint scheme, and unique badging. The current owner reportedly acquired the vehicle from its original owner in 2015, and recent maintenance is said to have included a replacement heater core, headlight motors, rear shocks, and more. This third-generation Firebird is now offered on dealership consignment with its original window sticker, owner’s manuals, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Indiana title.

The car is finished in Bright Red (81U) and accented with matching bumpers, ground effects, and a rear spoiler. Aftermarket tint has been applied to the windows. The Carfax report is free of accidents or other damage.

Gold-finished 16” diamond-spoke wheels feature polished lips, WS6-branded center caps, and an older set of 245/50 Goodyear Eagle VR50 tires. The car came optioned from the factory with four-wheel disc brakes and the WS6 performance handling package. The rear shocks and headlight motors were reportedly replaced by the selling dealer. Both retractable head lamps are shown both open and closed in the walk-around video provided above, while a second walk-around tour can be viewed here.

The gray leather interior features front bucket seats and a fold-down rear bench. Factory options include power windows, air conditioning, a GM Delco cassette radio, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated stereo controls. A battery cut-off switch has been added, and the seller notes that the automatic closing mechanism for the rear hatch does not function. The A/C system will reportedly be re-charged for its next owner.

Interior materials and finishes are shown further in the image gallery below. The digital odometer indicates just over 2k miles, around 260 of which have been added by the current owner.

The 5.7-liter L98 V8 is equipped with Tuned Port Injection fuel system and powers the rear wheels through a TH-700R4 automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Maintenance in preparation for the sale is said to include servicing the transmission and differential as well as replacing the hood struts, heater core, filters, and fluids.

The January 2020 Carfax indicates one open recall, shows no accidents or other issues, and displays history in Indiana from new through its most recent entry in October 2019.
