42k-Mile 1989 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio

This 1989 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio is finished in black over a gray and red leather interior and powered by a 2.0L twin-cam inline-four mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The selling dealer recently acquired this Spider from a service customer whose ownership covered 14 years and approximately 5k miles, and the car now shows just under 43k miles. Equipment includes the Quadrifoglio trim package, a replacement soft top, and an aftermarket exhaust. Maintenance in the last two years is said to have consisted of new first- and second-gear transmission synchronizers, a new clutch, and replacement of the front drive shaft flex coupling. This Alfa Romeo is now offered by the selling dealer with partial records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Ohio title.

The exterior features Quadrifoglio-only bumpers, mirrors, and side skirts, a hard rubbber trunk spoiler, and Quadrifoglio Verde badging. The car was reportedly repainted in the original black by a previous owner, and a recent Carfax shows no history of accidents or prior damage. The seller notes chips on the front bumper, bubbling of the decklid Alfa emblem, and a touch-up on the upper passenger-side door as detailed in the gallery below.

Factory 15-inch Quadrifoglio light alloy wheels were fitted with Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season tires in 2014, and tread depth is now said to measure 8-9/32″. The black soft top is a Haartz item installed in 2000, and the seller notes that the boot cover is not present.

The Quadrifoglio interior features grey leather seats with contrasting red stitching and red carpeting. Flaws include a worn spot on the outside edge of the upper-left bolster of the driver’s seat and the separation of a seam along the upper-right back edge of the passenger seat. An older Blaupunkt CD head unit is fitted in the factory location, and aftermarket speakers are mounted on the deck behind the seats.

Jaeger instruments include a 140-mph speedometer and a 6-figure odometer that shows just under 43k miles.

The 2.0-liter twin-cam inline-four features Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and received an oil and filter change in April 2019. Items replaced when the selling dealer began servicing the car in 2014 included an alternator belt, spark plugs, spark plug wires, a distributor cap, and a fuel filter. A compression test shows from 145 psi to 155 psi on all four cylinders, as seen in the gallery.

The 5-speed manual transmission was partially rebuilt in May 2017 with new first- and second-gear synchros and rings. A new clutch and new master and slave cylinders were installed at the same time, as were new front and rear wheel bearings with seals. An ANSA exhaust system was fitted in 2001. Included in the sale are service receipts going back to 1992, an owner’s manual, engine manual, an extra seat belt, spark plug wires, Alfa Romeo floor mats, a factory tool kit, and an inoperative factory radio.

A recent Carfax report first updates in Ohio in 1994. No accidents or other damage records are listed in the reporting period.
