This Land Rover Range Rover Classic got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1989 Land Rover Range Rover is finished in beige over tan leather and is powered by a retrofitted 4.6-liter V8 coupled to a rebuilt ZF four-speed automatic transmission and an overhauled dual-range transfer case. The truck has been registered in California since at least 1992, and was acquired by the seller in 2015. Subsequent service reportedly included a repaint along with replacing drivetrain, steering, suspension, exhaust, and brake system components. Additional equipment includes rock sliders, custom bumpers with a front winch, LED fog lights and off-road lights, a power sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, and an aftermarket stereo. This Range Rover is offered with service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The truck was refinished in the factory Savannah Beige in May 2022. Other features include custom-made front and rear bumpers, a Warn VR EVO 10-S winch, rock sliders, LED fog lights, LED off-road lights, a receiver hitch, and a split rear tailgate with a wiper. Known issues include bodywork dings and blemishes as well as a separating driver door seal, a sticky left-rear hatch mechanism, and a cracked driver-side taillight.

Five-spoke 16” wheels feature Land Rover-branded center caps and wear 245/75 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires. The four-wheel disc brakes are said to have larger calipers and vented discs designed for a later-model Range Rover as well as stainless-steel brake lines. The seller reports that the wheel bearings have been greased and re-sealed, and that other modifications include Terrafirma steering and track arms, caster-corrected radius arms, sway bars with custom-fabricated brackets, and Old Man Emu coils, shocks, and bushings. The power steering ball joints, box, and pump have reportedly been replaced along with the swivel ball seals and suspension bushings.

The cabin features seats upholstered in tan leather, and other amenities include wood-veneer trim, a power sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, and an aftermarket stereo. The seller notes that the truck’s cruise control, rear-window defroster, rear-hatch power lock, and automatic air recirculation are not operational. Other known issues include peeling dashboard trim near the footwells, dents in the door trim, a sticky front passenger door lock, cracks in the wood veneer, cracks and discoloration on the driver seat, a splitting seam on the rear seat, a rattle in one of the rear-seat latches, and a loose clock-adjustment knob. Work carried out under current ownership is said to have included installation of sound-deadening material on the floor as well as replacement of the headliner, the sunroof weatherstripping, the stereo speakers, the air conditioning compressor and hoses, and the heater core and hoses.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 110-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The factory temperature gauge is not operational. A replacement speedometer-cable right-angle drive is said to have been installed, and Glowshift digital gauges mounted under the dashboard monitor coolant temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure, and transmission fluid temperature. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 143k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

Modifications are said to consist of the following:

  • Crower 53230 camshaft
  • Tornado Systems ECU chip
  • Bosch fuel injectors
  • DUI high-energy ignition system

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a rebuilt ZF four-speed automatic transmission and an overhauled dual-range transfer case. The rear driveline is said to have been rebuilt under current ownership, and the seller notes other additions including a Tom Woods double-cardan front drive shaft, Detroit Truetrac front and rear limited-slip differentials, Terrafirma differential and sump guards, a Derale transmission fluid cooler, and a Flowmaster Pro Series exhaust. Corrosion is visible on the underside, and the seller reports a leak from the oil pan drain plug as well as a potential exhaust system leak.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in California from an initial entry in 1992. The truck most recently passed a California smog test in April 2021.
