This 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo is one of 1,385 examples imported into the US for the model year and was purchased new by the current owner. The car is finished in Velvet Red Metallic over a Linen leather interior and is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 16″ forged Club Sport wheels, a sunroof, pop-up headlights, integrated fog lights, power-adjustable seats, air conditioning, and an Eclipse head unit. Service carried out in December 2020 consisted of replacing the upper radiator hose, flushing the coolant, and adjusting the belts. Now showing 264k miles, this 944 Turbo is offered on behalf of the owner at no reserve with service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Velvet Red Metallic (LM3U) and is equipped with retractable headlights, integrated fog lights, a pop-up and removable sunroof panel, and a rear window wiper. Clearcoat failure and wear are present on the bumpers, rear stone-chip guards, right-rear wheel arch, and lower rear diffuser panel.
Factory 16″ staggered-width Club Sport wheels are wrapped in Toyo Extensa tires. Braking is from four-wheel discs, and the 944 Turbo utilized the same Brembo calipers found on the contemporary 928. In March 2019, the lower control arms were replaced and an alignment was carried out.
The interior is trimmed in Linen partial leather with matching door panels and carpets. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats, air conditioning, power windows, and an Eclipse head unit with a Blaupunkt equalizer. Cracking is noted on the dash, wear is present seats and shift knob, the sun visor clip is broken, and the rear hatch carpet is faded.
Instrumentation includes a 180-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and boost pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 264k miles.
The turbocharged 2.5-liter M44/51 inline-four was rated at 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque when new and drives the rear wheels via a rear-mounted five-speed manual transaxle. A timing belt service was reportedly carried out in June 2015 at 256k miles, and service performed in December 2020 consisted of flushing the coolant, replacing the upper radiator hose, and adjusting the belts. The seller notes that the rear muffler and hangers are in need of replacement.
The Carfax report begins in August 1996 and lists no accidents. History is shown in California through the most recent entry in January 2020.
