This Porsche 964 911 (Non-Turbo) got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 coupe was modified by Singer Vehicle Design over the course of three years and was delivered in April 2020 to the selling dealer, who sold it on behalf of its commissioning owner to its current owner later the same month. Finished in Midnight Blue Metallic over a custom Antique Tan leather interior, the “Pikes Peak Commission” is powered by an air-cooled flat-six that was rebuilt by Ed Pink Racing Engines to a displacement of 4.0 liters and drives the rear wheels via a close-ratio six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. Additional features include carbon-fiber body panels, individual throttle bodies, a ceramic-coated intake plenum, a titanium high-flow exhaust system, adjustable Öhlins coilovers, carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes with red calipers, staggered-width Fuchs-style wheels, carbon-fiber seat shells wrapped in suede- and leather-weave upholstery with brass grommets, an X-brace roll bar, and a Porsche Classic radio with navigation. This Singer-modified 964 is now offered on dealer consignment with a Singer build sheet, a Carfax report, and a clean Colorado title.

Los Angeles-based Singer Vehicle Design was founded in 2009 by former Catherine Wheel frontman Rob Dickinson and has since specialized in performance-based customizations of 964-series 911s. Each car is stripped to its steel unibody, which receives welding reinforcements before being fitted with carbon-fiber panels including the fenders, bumpers, front hood, and rear decklid. Non-sunroof coupes such as this example are also fitted with a carbon-fiber roof. The front spoiler, lower rear valance, and lower rocker panels are composed of black textured urethane.

This example is finished in Midnight Blue Metallic with Ghosted Light stripes and “Porsche” lettering along each side. Exterior options include nickel-plated bumperettes, an external fuel filler cap centered in the front hood, an external oil filler cap, raised gold “Porsche” decklid lettering, a brass Singer badge atop Ghosted Light “reimagined” lettering, rear reflectors, and clear protective film over the full body. Singer touches also include a retractable rear spoiler with a tinted acrylic screen beneath the grille, bi-xenon headlights, polycarbonate front lenses, and nickel-plated brightwork. The protective film over the front surfaces of the rear wheel arches is said to exhibit pitting, and the windshield is noted to contain a repaired chip.

Fuchs-style forged aluminum wheels are secured by open lugnuts and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 225/45ZR17 up front and 265/40ZR17 at the rear. Cross-drilled and ventilated carbon-ceramic rotors are acted upon by Blood Red-painted Brembo four-piston calipers. The sport suspension incorporates Öhlins adjustable dampers at all four corners and uprated springs at the rear.

The cabin is trimmed in Antique Tan leather with suede- and leather-weave inserts and brass ventilation grommets on the surfaces of carbon-fiber sport seats. Matching woven upholstery covers the door panels, rear side panels, and rear bulkhead, while tan square-weave carpeting lines the floors, center tunnel, sills, and rear seat pan. Options include an X-brace chromoly roll bar wrapped in tan leather and carrying an integrated harness bar as well as piano black seatbacks, drilled footboards and pedals, a brass Singer dash badge, an ivory-color headliner, and tan leather front-compartment trim with Alabaster stitching. Amenities include air conditioning and an upgraded sound system with a Porsche Classic navigation radio and a subwoofer mounted in the left-rear seat position.

The MOMO Prototipo steering wheel is wrapped in black leather with Alabaster stitching and sits ahead of a central 11k-rpm tachometer with a tan dial face flanked by a 190-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 2,200 miles since the completion of the Singer build. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

The air-cooled, naturally aspirated flat-six was rebuilt to a displacement of 4.0 liters by Ed Pink Racing Engines in Los Angeles and was rated by Singer at 390 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque. Custom components are said to include the crankshaft, pistons, cylinders, connecting rods, camshafts, cylinder heads, oil pump, and intake system, the latter of which features a ceramic-coated plenum atop individual throttle bodies. Engine management is via an updated MoTeC system and a custom wiring harness. An oil change was last performed in December 2021.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Getrag G50 six-speed manual transaxle with European-specification gear ratios and a limited-slip differential. The exhaust system features ceramic-coated headers and heat exchangers leading to titanium mufflers with dual central exhaust tips. The car is not equipped with catalytic converters.

The Singer build sheet lists the colors, options, and other equipment as well as special options including uprated rear springs, a chromoly roll hoops with a harness bar, European transaxle ratios, the omission of a throttle pedal extension, and titanium mufflers. The underside of the car’s front hood features Rob Dickinson’s signature.

The Carfax report is free of accidents or other damage and lists history since 1990, with the most recent mileage prior to the build reported at approximately 98k in 2016. A mileage inconsistency is reported after the build with 1,102 miles recorded in August 2020.
