16k-Mile 1991 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1

This 1991 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 is powered by a 5.7-liter LT5 V8 paired with a ZF six-speed manual transmission and is finished in red over matching leather. Equipment includes the Selective Ride and Handling Package, two removable roof panels, pop-up LED headlights, and 17″ sawblade wheels in addition to power-adjustable sport seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a Delco Bose Gold Series sound system with a CD player. The car spent much of its life in Michigan and is said to have remained in a private collection before the seller’s acquisition in 2020. Work under current ownership reportedly consisted of rebuilding the amplifiers and headlight mechanisms along with replacing the tires, fuel injectors, spark plugs, battery, headliner, and blower motor. This C4 Corvette ZR-1 has 16k miles and is now offered with a window sticker, a Corvette ZR-1 ownership box, manufacturer’s literature, service records, spare and removed parts, two sets of keys, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Texas title in the name of the seller and the seller’s spouse.

The C4 ZR-1 was sold between 1990 and 1995, and it featured a wider tail compared to the standard C4 Corvette and introduced a convex rear fascia with squared-off taillights. This example is finished in Bright Red and features pop-up LED headlights, fog lamps, a removable fiberglass roof panel, a removable transparent roof panel, fender aero-vents, and heated and power-adjustable side mirrors. The headlamp mechanisms were rebuilt in 2020 according to the seller, who states that the switches for the brake and reverse lights were replaced under current ownership. LED side markers and reverse lights are also said to be installed. Paint blemishes, scuffs on the front air dam, and de-lamination along the top and sides of the windshield are shown up close in the gallery below.

Staggered-width 17″ sawblade wheels are mounted with 275/40 front and 335/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires showing 2020 date codes, and the spare tire shows a pre-2000 date code. The seller notes that the low tire pressure warning sensors have been removed from the wheels and that the corresponding dashboard warning light has been disabled. The ZR-1 was equipped with the three-mode Selective Ride and Handling package, which was designed in consultation with Lotus and featured Bilstein shock absorbers. Braking is handled by anti-lock disc brakes at all four corners. The power steering fluid was reportedly changed in 2020.

The cabin features two power-adjustable sport bucket seats upholstered in red leather along with matching carpets and door panels. Amenities include an onboard computer, automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows and locks, and a Delco Bose Gold Series sound system with CD and cassette players. Work under current ownership reportedly consisted of rebuilding the amplifiers, installing a sueded headliner, and replacing the blower motor and front and rear lift supports. The inflatable seat bolsters do not work, and the carpeting is worn near the dead pedal.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a central digital speedometer and fuel readout flanked by an analog tachometer and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temperature, and voltage. The digital odometer indicates 16k miles, approximately 3,500 of which have been added under current ownership.

The all-aluminum 5.7-liter LT5 DOHC V8 was co-designed by GM and Lotus and built by Mercury Marine. Output was rated at 375 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque when new. Per the seller, ethanol-resistant fuel injectors are installed and the spark plugs and battery have been replaced. An oil change was most recently carried out in November 2022.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF six-speed manual transmission, and the seller reports that the transmission and differential fluids were changed in 2020. The fuel cap and charcoal canister were reportedly replaced a year later. Corrosion is visible on various suspension and drivetrain components.

The window sticker shows initial delivery to Jack Webb Chevrolet in Ypsilanti, Michigan, along with factory colors, standard and optional equipment, and a total vehicle price of $65,583. A Corvette ZR-1 ownership box is included in the sale along with manufacturer’s literature, service records, two sets of keys, a roof mounting tool, and a variety of spare and removed parts.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Michigan and Texas. Gaps in entries are present between November 1991 and June 1998 as well as between June 1998 and January 2020. Open manufacturer’s safety recalls associated with the left and right seat belt retractors are displayed in October 1991.
