One-Owner 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 5-Speed Project
This 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is a running project that was acquired new by the current owner in Texas and now shows 54k miles. It is finished in Fiji Blue Metallic over gray leather upholstery and is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 mated to a five-speed manual transaxle and an all-wheel-drive system. Equipment includes 17″ alloy wheels, fog lights, an Active Aero system, four-wheel steering, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a CD/cassette stereo. The seller notes that there is a knocking sound coming from the engine and that further service will be required. This 3000GT project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of its owner with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in Fiji Blue Metallic and is equipped with pop-up headlights, fog lights, a rear spoiler, an active aerodynamics system, power-adjustable mirrors, and quad-exhaust outlets. The seller notes that the front bumper cover, energy absorber, and reinforcement were replaced in February 2002 as a result of an accident along with the right headlight cover, motor, and housing. The front bumper cover and left side skirt are scuffed, and additional blemishes along the body can be seen in the photo gallery.
Silver-finished 17″ alloy wheels are mounted with 245/45 Nitto NT555 G2 tires. The car is equipped with four-wheel steering, anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, and an electronically-adjustable suspension. The left-rear wheel center cap is missing.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a bolstered rear bench trimmed in gray leather. Amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows and locks, a CD player, and a cassette stereo. The shift boot cover and front seats are worn.
The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel frames a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a fuel gauge. Additional readouts for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and boost pressure are mounted in the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 54k miles, all of which were added under current ownership.
The transverse-mounted twin-turbocharged 3.0L DOHC V6 features 24 valves and was factory rated at 300 horsepower and 307 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale. The seller states that there is a knocking noise coming from the engine and further mechanical diagnosis and repair will be required. The hood insulation pad is worn.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a viscous coupling center differential. Corrosion is noted on the underside.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to University Imports Inc. of College Station, Texas, as well as factory colors, equipment, options, and a total price of $32,367. Manufacturer’s literature and service records will also accompany the car.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Texas with a gap in reporting from April 1991 through March 2000. The lien listed on the report was released in March 1993.
