This Chevrolet 454 SS got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1992 Chevrolet 454 SS pickup is one of approximately 1,000 produced for the model year and has remained registered in New York since new. It was purchased by the seller in 2020. The truck is powered by a 454ci V8 linked to a four-speed automatic transmission and a locking rear differential, and it is finished in black over Garnet red cloth upholstery. The 454 SS package included separate oil and transmission fluid coolers as well as a heavy-duty radiator, a larger front sway bar, quick-ratio steering, Bilstein shocks, and 15″ chrome wheels. Additional equipment includes a dual side-exit exhaust, a cowl-induction hood, a roll pan, air conditioning, sport bucket front seats, a Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo, and power windows and door locks. Service performed since December 2019 has included a rebuilt transmission and limited-slip differential as well as the installation of a replacement windshield, harmonic balancer, fan clutch assembly, rear wheel cylinders, and rear brake shoes. This 454 SS shows 55k miles and is now offered with service records, spare parts, a clean Carfax report, and a New York title in the seller’s name.

The 454 SS was only available in a standard-cab short-bed configuration, and this example was repainted in black under prior ownership after being fitted with a cowl-induction hood and a roll pan. Additional exterior features include a red bowtie grille badge, silver and red 454 SS graphics, a front spoiler, a sliding rear window, integrated fog lights, body-color bumpers, and an All Star drop-in bedliner. The windshield was replaced in December 2019. Scuffs are present along the inside of the tailgate.

Chrome-finished 15″ wheels wear black center caps and are mounted with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. The truck is equipped with an independent front suspension with coil springs as well as the Performance Handling Package, which included a 32mm front sway bar, a 12.7:1 steering ratio, and Bilstein dampers. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums. The front parking brake cable, rear wheel cylinders, and rear brake shoes were replaced in May 2020 by Jimco Auto Repairs in Bethpage, New York.

The cabin features bolstered high-back bucket seats trimmed in Garnet red cloth and complemented by color-coordinated trim and carpets. Equipment includes a Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo with a graphic equalizer as well as air conditioning, a lockable center console, and power windows and door locks.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 110-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 55k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.

The fuel-injected 454ci V8 was rated at 255 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque when new. A heavy-duty radiator along with engine oil and transmission fluid coolers were standard equipment on the 454 SS. The harmonic balancer and fan clutch assembly were replaced in May 2020.

The 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive was rebuilt in December 2019 by Huntington Transmission in Huntington Station, New York. The 14-bolt limited-slip differential is equipped with a 4.10:1 final drive ratio and was rebuilt in May 2020 by Jimco Auto Repairs. A 2.5″ mandrel-bent dual side-exit United Exhaust system with an X-pipe and Flowmaster mufflers has been added.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in New York.
