This 1993 Volkswagen Cabriolet Classic is a Collector’s Edition example that is finished in Bordeaux Red Metallic with a black soft top over beige leather upholstery, and it is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. The car has spent time in South Carolina and North Carolina and was acquired by the seller in 2021, and subsequent work is said to have included powder-coating the forged 14″ wheels and installing ST coilover suspension, a Techtonics Tuning upper strut-tie bar and short-shift kit, and a Kenwood stereo as well as replacing the timing belt, water pump, tires, and suspension and braking components. This Cabriolet shows 109k miles and is now offered at no reserve with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Bordeaux Red Metallic with body-color bumper covers, side skirts, and wheel arch flares. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, a beige boot cover, a roll bar, Collector’s Edition and Karmann badging, and quadruple headlights. Blemishes are visible throughout the body as is a dent in the hood above the right headlights. Forged “Le Castellet” 14″ alloy wheels have been powder-coated silver and were reportedly mounted with 185/55 Accelera All Season tires under current ownership, and a spare is stored in the trunk. The seller states that ST coilover suspension was fitted along with a Techtonics Tuning upper strut-tie bar and notes that the suspension bushings, tie-rod ends, and front brake pads were replaced.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in beige leather that has visible wear. A Kenwood stereo was installed following the seller’s acquisition, and the carpets have been replaced. The car is also equipped with power windows, and the seller notes that the air conditioning system is inoperative. The shift knob is worn.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Additional auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center console. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 109k miles, approximately 3k of which have been added under current ownership. The seller states that the airbag light is illuminated.
The inline-four was factory rated at 94 horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque. Replacement components installed under current ownership are said to have included a Bosch starter and knock sensor as well as the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, coolant temperature sensor, engine mounts, spark plugs, wires, distributor, and the heater valve.
Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The seller states that a Techtonics Tuning short-shift kit has been installed along with replacement transmission mounts.
The included window sticker lists factory colors and equipment, and it displays a total price of $20,790. Manufacturer’s literature will also accompany the car.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in North Carolina and South Carolina.
