This 1996 Acura NSX-T is finished in Berlina Black over a Black leather interior with 99,345 miles from new. Owned in North Carolina and Virginia since new, the current owner has had it since 2009 and describes himself as a life-long NSX enthusiast that has taken exceptional care of the car. The car is sold with an extensive service file with approximately $20K+ in receipts during current ownership alone. The most recent service was completed on 4/25/16 at a cost of $6,500 and included a 2005-spec ABS brake upgrade, rebuilt steering rack, new fuel pump, and more. In 2014 at 88k miles the car received a new timing belt and water pump. The only drivetrain modification is a performance exhaust and the car is sold with a clean CarFax and clean Virginia title. The car has been exclusively maintained by Mid-Atlantic NSX specialist Ben Schaeffer at Daisy Import Auto Care since 2012.
Cosmetically, the car looks very clean especially for 100k miles; only one ding is mentioned on the passenger-side B-pillar. The car is believed to retain mostly original paintwork except for the nose, which was re-sprayed by the prior owner.
The only current noted flaws are slight clearcoat peeling on the OEM alloy wheels and minor paint wear on the driver’s door handle. The four VIN tags are all in place (window, rear bulkhead in the engine compartment and both door sills).
The original dampers were replaced in 2014 with Bilstein HD units, which are a direct replacement for the factory parts.
A B&B (formerly RM Racing) Tri-Flo exhaust system has been added, which is the only performance enhancement to the 270 horsepower engine. HID 5K Lumens lighting has also been added for better visibility.
The interior is as it left the showroom, down to the original stereo system. All electronics and functions are in working order, and leather seats look nice. The car is kept in a garage when not in use and is only driven in fair weather. Should the new owner encounter any rain, all four targa-top seals were replaced and professionally installed in 2014.
The 3.0 liter V6 engine and 5 speed manual transmission remain original to the car. In 2014 at 88K miles, a major service was completed at a cost of $5,600 which included:
- New timing belt, T/B tensioner, water pump, cam seals, crank seal, cam end rubber plugs, VTEC gaskets, center cover gaskets, valve adjustment, repack A/C tensioner
- Replaced all 6 coils and spark plugs
- New TW sensor, thermostat, rear hoses, front hoses at radiator, o-rings on both radiator vent and drains, coolant reservoir tank and hoses
- New clutch master and slave cylinder, upgrade to 2005 clutch slave cylinder boot
- New fuel filter and injector top o-rings
- Replaced both inner and outer tie-rods
- Installed braided SS brake lines
- Replaced front and rear brake pads (ceramic) and rotors (Brembo), service caliper pins, full system bleed
- Replaced oil pan gasket
- Clean throttle body by hand
- Four-wheel alignment
- New Transmission fluid
The fabric engine cover is noted as having a few spots where the material is worn, which could be reupholstered if the new owner desires.
Other notable repairs documented in the included service records are a clutch replacement at 60K miles, 90K service at 76K miles, new rear tires at 93K miles and fresh transmission/brake/clutch fluid at 97K miles.
Based on the regular and thorough service history included, it is apparent that this car has been well maintained with maintenance performed on schedule.
This NSX is sold with several spare parts, including:
- New L/R OEM Window regulator assemblies (for future use, current set works)
- Spare set of Hugabuba window pulleys (set already installed)
- Science of Speed Window Guide Bushings
- L/R vapor barriers
- Original cable reel
- Original shift lever
- Tail light gaskets
- Alternator voltage regulator assembly
- Miscellaneous clips and ties
Included in the sale are three keys (including the desirable “titanium” key), all owner’s manuals, factory service manuals, the original sales brochure and a OEM car cover.
