This 1996 Dodge Viper is one of 1,166 GTS coupes produced for the model year. It was acquired out of Kansas in a March 2017 BaT auction by the seller, who has since moved the car to California and has added approximately 6,600 of its less than 11k indicated miles. The exterior is finished in Viper GTS Blue with white top stripes over a black leather interior, and the 8.0-liter V10 delivers power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 17″ alloy wheels, an Alpine stereo, and air conditioning. This SR II Viper is now offered with service records from previous and current ownership, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The 1996 model year marked the debut year of the Viper coupe, which featured a double-bubble fixed roof, a glass rear hatch, and rear-exit exhaust. This example is finished in Viper GTS Blue (PBE) with white top stripes that extend through to the lower front and rear fascias. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown in the photo gallery below, and the seller notes the presence of paint chips as well as a crack near the hood latch.

Five-spoke alloy wheels measure 17″ in diameter and are mounted with 275/40 front and 335/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires manufactured in 2015. Some rashing can be seen on the outer lips, reportedly from mounting tires. The seller states that in May 2017 the sway-bar end links and bushings were replaced and in September 2019 the brake fluid was flushed.

The cabin features bolstered seats with black leather upholstery over black carpeting that is fitted with Viper floor mats as well as a factory Alpine CD player. The rear hatch struts were reportedly replaced in April 2017, the driver-side seat bottom is loose, and a scuff is noted on the outside bolster.

A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of factory instrumentation that includes a 7k-rpm tachometer and a 200-mph speedometer. Auxiliary gauges are centrally located, and the six-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 10,500 miles, about 6,600 of which have been added by the seller.

The 8.0-liter V10 was rated at 450 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque when new, which is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec T56 six-speed manual gearbox. The seller states that the following service has been performed under current ownership:

March 2017: Coolant flushed
April 2017: Differential fluid changed, power-steering pulley replaced, fuel filter replaced
May 2017: California emissions test passed
June 2017: Oil changed with Mobil 1 10W30
August 2017: Engine air filter replaced
May 2018: Battery replaced
June 2018: Oil changed with Mobil 1 10W30
March 2019: California emissions test passed
October 2019: Oil changed with Mobil 1 10W30

The February 2020 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage, with three-owner registration activity in Illinois, New York, Florida, Kansas, and California. An open recall from 2002 for the steering rack is also noted.
