This BMW E36 M3 got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1998 BMW M3 coupe is finished in Estoril Blue Metallic over black leather, and it is powered by a Dinan supercharged 3.0-liter M50/S52 inline-six mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The engine features Carrillo pistons, Schrick camshafts, an RMS Stage 2 Aftercooler, a VAC Motorsports baffled oil pan, a modified S52 cylinder head, ARP studs, and more as detailed below. Additional modifications include a Dinan S3-specification suspension, a Dinan exhaust, a StopTech big brake kit, 18″ Style 197 wheels, and an AC Schnitzer roof spoiler. The car was first registered in New York, and later spent time in Pennsylvania and Minnesota prior to its acquisition by the seller in 2011. It now has 49k miles, and recent service included an oil change and replacement of the wheels and tires. This E36 M3 is now offered with service records and receipts, an extra steering wheel, a Carfax report, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Estoril Blue Metallic with Shadowline trim, and modifications include an aftermarket trunk lip spoiler, an AC Schnitzer roof spoiler, clear corner lenses, and window tint. The Carfax report lists damage occurring in September 1998, and the seller states that the BMW DOT-R hood was fitted at that time. The seller refinished the hood, grille, front bumper cover, both front fenders, and both side skirts. Close up photos of exterior blemishes are available in the gallery below.
BBS-made 18″ Style 197 staggered-width wheels are powder-coated with a charcoal finish and wear Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires measuring 235/40 up front and 255/35 out back, which show 2019 and 2020 date codes and were installed in May 2020. Dinan S3-specification suspension is fitted including Koni shocks and Dinan springs, sway bars, and strut bars front and rear. A StopTech big brake kit is installed up front, and the seller notes that the stability control and anti-lock systems are disabled due to the engine having an OBD1 intake manifold. The removed OBD2 manifold is included in the sale.
The black interior features leather ‘Vader’ heated front seats along with matching carpets and door panels, and the rear parcel shelf has been reupholstered with black Alcantara. Amenities include automatic climate control, Dinan-branded floor mats, and a cassette stereo with a six-CD changer. The seller states the driver’s-side seat heater and illuminated shift knob are non-functional, the air-conditioning system is disabled in the engine tune, and the headliner is beginning to sag.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary instrumentation is mounted below the stereo. The digital odometer shows 49k miles, approximately 7k of which were added by the seller. The seller states the left turn signal indicator on the instrument cluster will intermittently stay illuminated, though the exterior turn signals function properly. An additional three-spoke steering wheel is included in the sale and shown in the gallery below.
A 3.0L M50 inline-six engine block combined with an S52 cylinder head and crankshaft along with a Dinan Vortech supercharger kit was fitted, and additional equipment includes a Dinan throttle body, Schrick camshafts, an RMS Stage 2 Aftercooler, Carrillo pistons, a VAC Motorsports baffled oil pan, ARP studs, and WinTEC3 stand-alone engine management. The seller states that engine block and machine work was performed by RavenWorks of Maple Grove, Minnesota and the cylinder head was modified by Headwerks Specialty Machine in Bloomington, Minnesota. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission with a Clutch Masters FX300 clutch, JBR aluminum flywheel, and a limited-slip differential. The exhaust features an RMS ceramic-coated header and a Dinan rear section, and additional photos of the underside are available in the gallery below.
The September 2020 Carfax report shows the aforementioned accident and lists history in New York, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota.
