This 2001 Ford Mustang Saleen S281 is powered by a replacement dual overhead cam 32-valve 4.6-liter V8 paired with a TR3650 five-speed manual transmission and is finished in gray over black suede and leather. Modifications include dished pistons, a Sullivan Performance lower intake manifold, an HPP Racing sheet metal upper intake manifold, Ford Performance chain guides, Billet timing chains, ATI dampers, a Precision Gen 2 Turbo, a Spec stage 3+ clutch, a Holley 7.5” digital dash, Maximum Motorsports coilovers, Bilstein struts, and Forgeline RS3 wheels. Equipment includes a CD stereo and cruise control. The car spent time in Michigan and Indiana prior to the seller’s acquisition in February 2020. This Saleen Mustang is now offered with a Carfax report and a clean Kansas title in the seller’s name.

The car has reportedly been refinished in Mineral Gray and features Saleen bodywork including a rear wing, urethane bumper covers, side skirts, badging, and louvered side scoops. Additional features consist of dual exhaust outlets as well as tinted windows, headlights, and taillights. An HCM carbon fiber hood, roof, and decklid have been added along with 2004 Cobra-style mirrors, and the emblems and decals have been removed. The Carfax report notes an accident in November 2001 without additional information listed.

Three-piece 18″ Forgeline RS3 wheels are finished in copper and are wrapped in 245/45 Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tires up front and 305/35 Toyo Proxes RR tires outback. Modifications include a UPR Products Chromoly k-member and control arms, Baer calipers with EradiSpeed rotors, an H&R sway bar, Bilstein shocks, and a Maximum Motorsports bump steer kit, coilovers, and caster/camber plates.

The interior has been reupholstered and features Corbeau LG1 black suede and leather seats with matching door panel inserts. Additional equipment includes cruise control and a CD stereo with a six-disc changer. A Corbeau harness bar has been installed along with retrimmed rear seats, an ACC Mats carpet, and Saleen embroidered floor mats. The air conditioning module has been removed.

The Alcantara and leather-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel features a carbon fiber ring at 12 o’clock and fronts a Holley 7.5” digital dash display that includes a GPS speedometer and a tachometer with a shift light as well as outputs for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and boost. The digital odometer shows 845 miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement dual overhead cam 32-valve 4.6-liter V8 is said to feature an aluminum block and was bored .020″ over and built by Mike Henson from Henson Racing of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2019. Reported modifications include a Tuff Stuff Performance Ford 3G alternator, MSD Street Fire coils, Manley dished pistons, a Sullivan Performance lower intake manifold, and an HPP Racing sheet metal upper intake manifold as well as an Accufab Racing throttle body, 2004 Cobra-style camshafts, Ford Performance chain guides, Billet timing chains, a Precision Billet BB Turbo, a Fore Innovations fuel pump controller, and dual CleanInjection Pro Series 340LPH fuel pumps. A detailed list of modifications is provided in the gallery below.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed Pro-Force Performance TR3650 manual transmission. Modifications are said to include a Spec stage 3+ clutch, a Fidanza flywheel, ARP flywheel bolts, a Ford Racing aluminum driveshaft, and Moser axles.

The Carfax report shows the aforementioned accident and lists history in Michigan, Indiana, and Kansas.
