2004 Land Rover Discovery II G4 Challenge

This 2004 Land Rover Discovery II G4 is one of 200 examples produced in conjunction with the 2003 G4 Challenge and is finished in Tangiers Orange over a Black Mogul interior. It was first registered in Florida and spent time in Colorado and Louisiana prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2018. Power comes from a 4.6-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and two-speed transfer case. Modifications include powder-coated wheels and an Alpine CD stereo. Now showing 132k miles, this Disco II G4 is offered by the selling dealer in Arkansas with a set of factory G4 wheels, service records, a Carfax report, and a clean Louisiana title.

The G4 Challenge edition came from the factory in Tangiers Orange (761), and this example has been refinished according to the selling dealer. Features include G4 Edition stickers, front driving lights, a roof rack, a rear-mounted ladder, and taillight cages. An accident in 2016 with minor rear end damage is noted on the accompanying Carfax report.

Powder-coated 18″ wheels with Land Rover center caps wear 2017-production BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires measuring 265/60. A full-size spare is mounted on the rear swing-out door, and a set of five stock G4 wheels are included in the sale.

The interior features Black Mogul upholstery, which was unique to the G4 edition, along with white stitching on the seats, color-matched door panels and dash, and a tan headliner with dual sunroofs. Land Rover-branded floor mats protect the carpet. An Alpine CD stereo replaces the factory head unit. The selling dealer notes that the driver’s bottom seat cushion was reupholstered in a different black vinyl under previous ownership, and the B-pillar trim was replaced in February 2020.

A four-spoke steering wheel frames factory instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer shows approximately 132k miles, 1,500 of which have been added by the selling dealer.

The 4.6-liter V8 is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and produced 217 horsepower when new. The truck is equipped with a two-speed transfer case with locking center differential, as well as four-wheel electronic traction control. The selling dealer’s records indicate that the oil pan gasket, intake manifold gasket, and coolant expansion tank were replaced in August 2019. Engine start-up videos can be viewed here and here.

The selling dealer reports a replacement Y-pipe was fitted in February 2020, and that there is some corrosion on the exhaust and frame. An additional underbody photo can be viewed in the gallery.

The February 2020 Carfax report lists registration history in Florida, Colorado, and Louisiana, as well as the previously mentioned rear end damage in 2016.
