This 1962 Buick Special two-door sedan, known as Bu’Wicked, was built by Bill McGlaughlin’s Hot Rod Fabrication of Auburn, Washington. The car competed for 2003 Goodguys Street Machine of the Year, was selected for the cover of an issue of Custom Rodder magazine, and was featured in Popular Hot Rodding. It was also chosen by Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi for the GT award at the 2003 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada, and it thereafter appeared in the fourth, fifth, and sixth installments of the Gran Turismo video game series. Riding on an Art Morrison chassis, it is powered by 455ci V8 fitted with a ProCharger F-1 supercharger, TA Performance Stage 2 Street Eliminator aluminum heads, forged JE pistons, a custom-ground roller camshaft, and an Accel DFI engine management system. Ryan Butler fabricated the intake, headers, and exhaust system, and its Richmond six-speed manual transmission is linked to a Scribner-fabricated rear end with a Ford 9″ pumpkin, an Eaton Trac-Lok differential, and 3.55:1 gearing. The body was refinished in Lexus Jade Mica and Silver Jade Pearl with Lamborghini orange pinstriping, and the car is also equipped with 17″ Budnik wheels, QA1 coilover suspension, Baer/Alcon brakes, a hand-stitched leather-wrapped roll cage, a Vintage Air climate-control system, AutoMeter gauges, Pontiac-sourced front bucket seats wrapped in leather upholstery, and an Alpine sound system with a CD stereo and an amplifier.
