Ramble of the Day

I don’t mean to keep brining up horrible anniversaries, but this one is a little bit lighter in tone than last week’s remembrance of COVID-19 shutdowns. This is, though, on the same topic: it’s the one year anniversary of Gal Gadot’s horrid video where she summoned many of her famous friends to sing “Imagine!”

I could probably ramble about the specific uselessness of that empty gesture, but it instead inspires me to ask a question: What is the worst thing (besides that video, of course) you’ve watched because you’ve spent more time indoors than usual over the last year?

I thought about the answer to this question a few days ago, remembered three things, and have since forgotten two of them. The one thing I remember is The English Game, the Netflix show about the early days of English football from the creator of Downton Abbey. It dropped the same week things shut down over here, and I got around to it fairly quickly. The only thrill it provided was the worst goalkeeping I’ve seen, and was otherwise both bad and boring.

I must, though, note that it’s entirely possible I watched something worse in the last year — I did forget two of the three answers I originally had to this question. The bar that I established early on for myself, though, was that I would not stoop so low and watch either Lego Masters or Spenser Confidential, so I’ve at least succeeded at that.

tl;dr: What’s the worst thing you’ve watched in the last year, when you’ve spent more time indoors than usual because of a pandemic? For me, it’s The English Game.
