Mercury

Presenting trend-setting beauty
with a flair for the future.

Mercury for 1954 offers new styling that matches perfectly the advanced design of the revolutionary new engine and chassis.
Surging power and fleet agility are reflected in longer, lower, and more graceful lines. New, carefully conceived style refinements-such as new grille, new hood scoop, and new ornamentation -complement one another to produce an appearance that's truly trim and beautiful. Yet Mercury's basic Unified Design remains intact. There is a perfect blending of body, engine, and chassis ... to give unexcelled comfort and convenience, performance, and on-the-road control. Here is styling that's inherently right for a car designed to serve you better today.
Longer and lower-easier then ever on the eyes.

XM-800

Mercury’s fabulous XM-800 dream car is a true glimpse into future automotive designs. It is lower, wider and longer than any previous Mercury. It feature forward-slanted hooded headlights, covered front wheels and slender, canted taillight rear bumper/exhaust combo. The XM-800’s styling also feature a concave front grille, wide wrap around windscreen, and flush type door handles. Both exterior and interior are finished in pearlescent white and copper tones. For passenger comfort, the individual-contoured seats have stationary armrests, and contain controls for various functions.

One of three Mercury “Visions of Styling” show cars displayed at the 1954 Chicago Auto Show was the two-door hardtop. Based on a Monterey, the eye-catching two-tone exterior feature a red roof over yellow body. Inside the cabin is a treatment of yellow confetti and siren red vinyl. The two other Mercury "visions"- the convertible and four-door sedan - are also based on Montereys.
