Vehicle Description
How about a pickup truck that's old enough to be considered a
classic, yet modern enough to adapt to almost any practical
application? That's exactly what you have in this 1986 Ford F150
XLT Lariat. This black beauty has only been in two families since
new, and with 50K actual miles on the odometer, it likely has years
and years of life left in it.
This is one of those vehicles that always invites you back for a
second look, and you'll be glad it did. We all know that a nice
black paint job looks great on anything with wheels. But an ebony
finish has never shown better than it does on this super sanitary
short bed. It's a perfect color choice for the boxy shape and
sharply defined lines of the seventh generation F-series body
style. The truck was actually repainted about 10 years ago, but the
finish has held up extremely well. It has retained its luster and
shows no major flaws. Of course, a heaping helping of chrome is one
of the features that emboldens the XLT Lariat package. The bumpers
and trim on this F150 are in excellent shape and have kept their
mirror-like finish. The cosmetics have been further enhanced with a
few add-ons: a spotlight, step bars, chrome bed rails, and driving
lights on the front bumper. Twin fuel filler doors signify that
this pickup is equipped with dual gas tanks. The inside of the bed
is pristine with no dents, dings or major scuffs. Factory sport
wheels look great against the ebony paint job, and the 235/70R15
Uniroyal radials achieve the proper stance. This is a good looking
truck by anyone's standards!
Check out the cab and you'll see that the interior is all original
and in decent shape for its age. Plush burgundy upholstery is the
perfect complement to the exterior paint. It's a very attractive
color combination. The cloth seat is just a bit faded, but there
are no rips or tears. More importantly, it is wide enough to
comfortably seat three adults. The carpet is really nice with no
stains, the headliner is tight, and the door panels are in very
good condition. The dash shows no blemishes with the exception of a
couple of small cracks around the speaker. Accessories include
tilt, cruise, A/C, stereo, and power windows and locks. Back in the
day, who would have ever dreamed that the interior of a pickup
truck would be this nice?
Lift the hood, and you'll find everything intact and in its proper
position. The 5.0 fuel-injected engine is completely stock and has
been well-maintained throughout its life. These small block V8
power plants have been around for decades in one form or another,
and are considered to be among the most reliable motors ever
produced by the Blue Oval. The 5.0 has plenty of torque for
pulling, but still has enough muscle to move this F150 down the
road at cruising speed without a hint of hesitation. And it
actually gets pretty decent fuel mileage, thanks in part to an
automatic overdrive transmission and conservative rear end gearing.
The truck looks really good underneath with no significant rust.
The steering linkages are nice and snug, and all of the suspension
parts are in good condition. And to top it all off, the crisp
rumble of the dual exhaust speaks with confidence and
authority.
