Vehicle Description
This 1951 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Capri Coupe is a rare two-door that
has been upgraded with fuel-injected V8 power, sleek paint, an A/C
interior, and more. It's all so that even vintage motoring can live
up to the premium feeling of a Lincoln.
For a few short years both before and after WWII, Lincolns had a
very distinct style. The headlights were sunken into the fenders;
the profile was sleek like a chopped-top hot rod; and the
sheetmetal had amazing curves that flowed right into the door line.
It really did look like a custom car right from the factory, and so
it's an ideal place to start for a full custom build. But this one
likes to be subtle about its upgrades. The exterior investments
preferred to focus on the car's classic style. So you have a
quality respray of a tasteful Bonita Blue, and the darker blue
vinyl roof gives this a European-like level of sophistication.
Shining chrome bumpers, full-length trim, whitewall tires, and rear
fender skirts are all part of a great 1950s feeling. In fact, your
only true clue at this car's modern upgrade may just be the large
dual exhaust tips. But we also understand why the exterior
presentation is all about being close to stock. The trim tag has
this as a true Capri coupe, and that makes it one of less than
1,300 produced that year.
A tasteful sea of blue continues inside. The blue and gray striped
cloth has the right 1950s look but a far fresher feel. And there's
a nice-looking dark blue on top. This full setup is repeated on the
side panels for a uniform appearance. As a true luxury Lincoln in
the premium Cosmopolitan series, this had some great features like
power windows. Plus, you'll love the tingle you get when slipping
behind the stylish factory steering wheel and gazing at the Art
Deco style gauges. It all goes for a vintage feeling, right down to
the AM radio that's still cranking out tunes. But because this one
is built to be a better cruiser, they also added modern R134a air
conditioning to make sure every Sunday drive remains cool and
comfortable.
While the Cosmopolitan Capri came with one of the largest/best
flathead V8s of the era, you'll be much happier with the powerhouse
currently under the hood. They updated this one utilizing proper
Ford power with a 5.8-liter V8 borrowed from an F-150. The truck
motor is a terrific transplant here. After all, you get the modern
appeal of fuel injection in a package designed for big torque. So
it offers right kind of power and consistency to move this Detroit
iron with ease. They even added dual electric fans to help keep it
running cool. If this is starting to sound like an awesome cruiser
package, then you'll also like the power steering, power brakes,
and Ford's strong and smooth C6 three-speed automatic
transmission.
These Lincolns had a custom look, and now this one has a custom
fuel-injected heart. So don't let this rare coupe with all the best
features slip away. Call today!!!
