still popular more than 70 years after introduction. This
handsomely presented Chevy Five-Window Pickup Truck has had the
same owner for the past 10 years, a local truck since 1994 that has
been very well cared for and maintained. Documentation includes
hand-written lists of $13,635 of parts, plus thousands of dollars
in restoration and service work receipts over the past 3 decades.
Dressed in a two-tone red, the truck?s paint and trim are in
overall excellent order. The split windshield and other glass panes
are clear and intact, the lights look great, this truck?s bodywork
is straight and solid, and the cargo bed with its wooden floor
looks fantastic. The engine bay is extremely tidy and the truck?s
chrome bumpers shine and look great. This truck rolls on Coker
Classic tires, size 7.60-15 at every corner. Each one is mounted on
a steel wheel, topped with a factory moon wheel cover. The wheels
are in excellent order while the tires are in very good condition.
Under the hood a upgraded 235 CID straight six-cylinder engine.
Backing this motor are a three-speed manual transmission with a
column-mounted shifter and a 4.11:1 rear end. This truck rides on a
116-inch wheelbase and has a 4,100 GVWR. Inside, the gray and red
interior is striking. The bench seat, upholstered in gray cloth, is
in excellent shape. The floor mats and metal headliner look great,
a three-spoke steering wheel frames the dashboard but the horn and
the amp gauge is inoperable. That dash is red, metal and looks
sharp and a optional under-dash heater. The inner door liners are
in similar condition. A column-mounted shift lever rounds out the
interior. For 1950, telescopic shock absorbers replace lever-action
type. Last year for driver's side cowl vent, its handle is now flat
steel, not maroon knob as in previous years. Advance-Design was a
light and medium duty truck series by Chevrolet, their first major
redesign after WWII. Its GMC counterpart was the GMC New Design. It
was billed as a larger, stronger, and sleeker design in comparison
to the earlier AK Series. First available on Saturday, June 28,
1947, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the
years until March 25, 1955, when the Task Force Series trucks
replaced the Advance-Design model. The same basic design family was
used for all of its trucks including the Suburban, panel trucks,
canopy express, and cab overs. The cab overs used the same basic
cab configuration and similar grille but used a shorter and taller
hood and different fenders. The unique Cab Over fenders and hood
required a custom cowl area which makes the Cab Over Engine cabs
and normal truck cabs incompatible with one another while all truck
cabs of all weights interchange. From 1947 until 1955, Chevrolet
trucks were number one in sales in the United States, with
rebranded versions sold at GMC locations. Competition to this Chevy
in 1950 was Dodge?s B1-B half-tons, Ford?s F-1 half-tons and GMC?s
New Design Series trucks. This is gorgeous classic pickup truck
from a range that is highly desirable, especially a nicely sorted
five-window cab pickup. If you?re a Chevy fan, a truck fan or you
