Why search for a Mitsubishi Eclipse when we have the next best thing at MotoeXotica Classic Cars ? an Eagle Talon TSi with just under 32,000 original miles on the clock! The Talon and the Plymouth Laser were rebadges of Mitsubishi?s popular 2+2 coupe from 1989 and through most of the 1990s. This Eagle Turbo had a single, loving owner until August 2020, when it was transferred to an adult daughter. The Talon has always been garaged in the Mount Vernon Indiana area since new and this example has to be one of the very best examples offered for sale! This is the last year of production for the Eagle Talon and only 4,308 were produced in the 1998 model year. Made at the Diamond-Star Motors factory in Normal, Illinois, this example was shipped to Holzhauer Auto and Truck Sales in Nashville, Illinois. This car had the following optional equipment ? low-back leather bucket seats; Customer Preferred Package 24P, which included automatic transmission; sunroof; ABS brakes; air-conditioning; cruise control; power windows; power locks; and AM/FM stereo with cassette deck and compact disc player. This Talon is finished in black (code X13). The original paint and trim are in overall excellent order, reflecting the level of car it received. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is immaculate, the back window has a rear defroster, the cargo area looks great and the body-colored bumpers with foglights fit tightly to the body and echo the rest of the exterior?s amazing original condition. This bird-of-prey rolls on Dayton Quadra radials, size 205/55R16 at every corner. Each tire is mounted to a factory alloy wheel. The tires and wheels are all in very good order. Under the hood is the original 2.0L turbo, DOHC, 16-valve four-cylinder engine (code 4G63T). Backing the motor is a four-speed automatic transmission (code F4A33). One important change was the new T25 turbocharger, provided by Garrett, had boost increased to 12 psi of peak boost and was smaller than the previous Mitsubishi built 14B turbo that was on first-generation models. Although the T25 was a smaller turbo, it spooled faster at a lower rpm, resulting in increased low-end acceleration performance. Driver convenience features are lengthy ? air-conditioning, sunroof, power rack-and-pinion steering, power four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock, cruise control, power windows, power mirrors, power locks and tilt steering column. This Eagle has upgraded suspension and a sport-tuned exhaust. Safety equipment included dual front airbags, side impact door beams and ABS brakes. Inside, the car?s original gray interior is in overall very good order, with leather front buckets with a pair of demi-buckets with 50/50 folding seatbacks in the rear. The gray carpet and headliner are in similar condition. A leather-wrapped, four-spoke steering wheel faces the driver while the inner door panels and instrument panel, with full gauges, look fantastic. The center console, shift lever and factory AM/FM stereo with a cassette deck and CD player round out the interior. The other important change concerned the suspension. While the first-generation cars had MacPherson struts in the front, the second-generation had double-wishbone in the front and multilink suspension in the rear. The double-wishbone suspension gave the second-generation cars a much better roll-camber curve in the front, allowing for much better handling. For 1997, a design update occurred for both the Talon and the Eclipse that is sometimes referred to as ?2GB.? The update was primarily limited to the non-metal portions of the car. The front and rear fascias were heavily revised to incorporate more aggressive-looking features. At the front, a larger air intake was created and the ?Eagle? emblem was enlarged and embossed into the center of the bumper cap (as opposed to a badge that inset into a similarly shaped hole). At the rear, a new high-mount spoiler was introduced that projected further into the airstream, replacing the flush-mounted sickle spoiler. Added plastic moldings on the bumper caps and doors completed the revisions to the body. Competition to Eagle in 1998 included Chevrolet?s Camaro, Ford?s Mustang, Honda?s Prelude, Mitsubishi?s Mirage, Nissan?s 300ZX, Honda Civic Si and Acura Integra GSR. If you had one of these cars in high school or college, before marriage, mortgage payments and kids and you want another one that still looks as good as they did in 1998, you should stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to check out this super clean and low mileage Eagle Talon.
