1969 AMC AMX, 390 GO Pack.
Built in June of 1969 at the Kenosha Lake Front plant, this car reportedly came east and was sold in NY. The current owner is the third owner and bought the car locally here in CT in the early 2000's after the car had been sitting for a bit.
In 2009 the car was dropped off at Innovative Restorations where the seats, carpet and headliner were done in their original 391L Charcoal leather; the 390 V8, 4 bbl, 315 HP engine was rebuilt, along with the 3 speed BW auto transmission; and the car repainted in it's original Cordoba Brown Metallic. All the bright work is original (Bumpers, trim, emblems, etc).
The car has been driven sparingly since with only a few thousand miles being racked up in that time. The odometer shows just 111 miles but that is rolled over. There is less than 5000 miles on the car since it's restoration in 2009-2010.
Only 2183 390/AT AMX were produced in 1969, this one optioned with the GO Pack, which included the 390 V8, 4bbl, 315 HP engine, dual exhaust, power disc brakes, redline tires, Twin Grip rear diff (AMC M20), Handling package, HD cooling, fan shroud, space saver spare and the over the roof stripes. The car also has power steering as an added option, along with AM/FM radio, clock, rally wheels, remote driver side mirror, passenger side mirror, and electric wipers.
Lastly, during the restoration, new KYB shocks were installed and bushings updated, entire chassis cleaned and painted. New exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers were installed.
The car starts right up and has a very lopey idle at the recommended 550 RPM. It runs and drives strong, accelerates nicely, will easily smoke up the rear tires. There is no rust or rot in the car whatsoever.
This is a prime example of a high #2 car.. with some minor touch ups under the hood/car and the interior, it could be a number one car.
Although rare in terms of usual Big Three production numbers, rarity doesn't always make a car worth millions.
This top notch AMC muscle/pony car can be driven home for $45,000.
