Vehicle Description
Carolina Muscle Cars is proud to present this very rare 1935
Studebaker Roadster Series 2A. Finished in an elegant cream paint
with black fenders. Retaining the same owner since April 13th,1961,
This Studebaker is a True Piece of history.
Following the Great Depression, Studebaker needed a new model of
car that would get them out of their bankruptcy. This is where the
Dictator came in to "dictate the standard" of automobiles.
Introducing a modernized Version of their products. This included a
long, distinctive hood, swept back grille, sharp lines, and a lower
stance and silhouette.
Styling, Performance, and safety changes continued for 1935. The
styling changes included a more rakish, chiseled look, a longer and
narrower grille, a more bowed front bumper, and a flying bird hood
ornament that adds a sense of speed even when sitting still. The
series 2A introduced a new "Miracle Ride" suspension on a "Planar"
independent front suspension system, increasing handling and ride
comfort. Even more changes for 1935 include a 4-wheel
"Steeldraulic" braking system that replaces the unreliable
mechanical brakes from past years. An Autolight ignition system
replaces the previous Delco-Remy Ignition. Studebaker also
introduced the "Hill Holder" system as standard equipment, this
allows the car to hold still on steep hills when the clutch is
depressed. Other changes include free-wheeling OD, safety Glass,
roll up windows, radio speaker provisions and an automatic
starter.
Powering this Dictator is a 205.3CID L-Head inline 6 producing 88
HP which was very strong for 1935. Power was sent to the rear
wheels via a single dry disc clutch, floor shifted synchromesh
3-speed transmission.
This Dictator example is unrestored and retains a lot of
originality. It has received a beautiful repaint of cream with
black fenders. The exterior shows great. The front and rear bumpers
are original and show nicely. The paint shines bright with some
imperfections. The Convertible top is tight and original, showing
some signs of age. All of the exterior trim is original as well but
shows very well. The Windows are clean and clear. The headlight and
taillight lenses are clean, clear and free of any cracks.
The interior is virtually all original with the exception of the
front seat which was reupholstered and a heater that was added for
the winter months. The interior as a whole presents very nicely.
The rear seat functions as it should and is original with the
exception of the bottom seat.
Mechanically, This Studebaker is an awesome running. It starts up
with easy and runs clean. The 6-cylinder runs very strong and
smooth. the synchromesh transmission shifts into every gear smooth
and with ease. The "Miracle Ride" suspension soaks up all
imperfections you find on the road while still handling tight and
confidently. This Dictator is a true Joy to drive.

Chrome beauty rings
dual wipers
dual taillamps
