Vehicle Description
From 1983 through 1988 Ford was on its ninth generation of
Thunderbird from its beginnings in 1955. This was marketed and
built as a personal luxury coupe and the re-design was in big part
to the downturn of sales from the previous generation from
1980-1982. In my opinion this is my favorite years of Thunderbirds.
Such a cool 80's styling with Mustang V8 power plants and a pretty
nice fit and finish for an 80's car. What we have here that GR Auto
Gallery of Traverse City is pretty excited to represent is a car
that Mechanically has been completely gone through down to every
rubber hose and fitting. The engine has been re-built, the trans
has a mild shift kit and fitted with aluminum radiator, this thing
is ready to go. The car originated in Virginia and did not move
north until 2013. This car looks as though it has never seen a
winter, the interior is in very good shape and the paint is
original so it has some mild paint fade in a couple spots, some
dings and one quarter size spot of surface rust under the rear
window as seen in the pics, the underside is in very good shape as
well. The window rubber is dried out but as I said, with the
exception of the drivetrain being gone through this is a largely
original car. Everything appears to be in working order including
the A/C with the exception of the passenger side window that might
be off track? This T-bird has good brakes, rubber and fresh fluids.
This thing starts easily, idles perfectly, shifts and goes down the
road strait with no noise or rattles. You hardly ever see these
cars on the road anymore even though Ford built nearly 900,000
examples in six years. This is a neat piece.
