Vehicle Description
This 1931 Model A Closed Cab Pickup Truck is a last year Model A
closed cab pickup truck with a nice stock look. By 1931, Ford had
perfected its Model A lines, both on the passenger car line and the
commercial vehicle line. The light-duty Model A trucks were
assembled on the standard passenger chassis and outfitted with
truck-specific cabs and rear boxes, such as open pickup boxes or
enclosed sedan delivery type setups. Ford had also expanded the
number of colors available in the later year Models A commercial
vehicles from 5 that were available in 1929, all the way up to 38
that could have been standard ordered on a 1931 truck. For the
pickup truck models, there were essentially 2 cab types
available-open cab or closed cab. By 1931, public preference
shifted away from open cab type models to the more comfortable
closed cab models, with the vast majority of '31 Model A pickups
being ordered as closed cabs. In fact, of the 98,166 Model A
pickups produced in 1931, 97% were closed cabs. This particular
Model A Pickup Truck comes to us from an established Model A
collector who recently passed away, and it previously spent time
down south. Under the hood on this Model A Pickup is a 200.5 Cubic
Inch L-Head Inline 4 Cylinder engine paired with a single barrel
carburetor that pushed out 40 horsepower in its day. The 201 Inline
4 is mated to a 3 speed manual transmission that is shifted using a
floor mounted shifter. The exterior has a nice stock look having
been refinished a number of years ago in Rock Moss Green with the
steel fenders and running boards being finished in black. The
painted green wood bed, along with the steel box, rear tail gate,
and removable bed stakes are in great shape as well and appear be
like-new. The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of this
Model A Pickup, including the "flying quail" radiator car," are in
wonderful condition and have a fantastic look! Riding on 4.75-5.00
black wall bias ply tires on 19" wire wheels, this Closed Cab Model
A has a nice stock look and features a side-mounted spare as well.
The interior on this Model A Pickup is stunning! The bench seat has
been beautifully reupholstered in black vinyl. The dash, door
panels and steering wheel are all in wonderful condition as well
and appear to be in their stock configuration. The dash is equipped
with 80 mph speedometer, amp gauge, fuel gauge, and odometer.
