For Sale: 1958 Chevrolet Apache in Rowley, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

1958 Chevrolet Apache: A very clean, straight, and nice driving 6-cylinder driver-quality truck with a manual 3-speed transmission ("3 on the tree"). The actual mileage is unknown, but the odometer currently shows 06049. My guess is that the odometer went around. This truck starts relatively easily, runs very strong, shifts and drives very smoothly, stops soundly, and can be driven exactly as is.

It has the original straight 6 cylinder engine and original gas tank, but new gas lines and a new fuel sending unit. The electronics all work as they should.

The body is in average to good condition. The only rust I can see is behind the rear fender in the passenger side (see picture). It has some amateur body work around the doors that should probably be cleaned up if you wanted to make it show quality. The rear fenders have some dents that have been hammered out but can still be seen up close; again, would likely want to address if you wanted to restore to show quality.

The paint job is very amateur and the buyer will likely want to have it repainted to make it show quality. It has some dings and scratches in the paint, along with a noticeable over-spray drip. That said, I've kept the paint as is and have taken it to car shows and it gets a ton of attention as is. People always compliment it, so I would say it's a "10-footer"... looks great at 10 feet, but up close a trained eye can see the flaws.

There is no rot that I can see and the frame looks very solid. I had a mechanic friend over recently and he peeked underneath and said the floors and rails look good.

The seat was recently recovered and looks great. The headliner is great and the dash is clean. The wood bed could be sanded and restained if desired, but it's solid and good as is.

The whitewall tires are in great shape and only have a few hundred miles on them. It does not have power steering or power brakes. It was a locally driven truck, so hasn't seen a highway in a while, hence why we never bothered to have them done. This truck was used for local car shows, coffee and ice cream rides, and local dump runs.

It's a nice driving truck that can be used exactly as is, but it is also a PERFECT candidate for a show-quality restoration. It wouldn't take much at all to make this a $40k truck. I just don't have the money or automotive skill to do so, so I'm passing a great canvas to the next guy.

Note, I'm open to reasonable offers, however I don't need to sell this truck and am happy to keep it if the respectable interest and offers aren't there.

I welcome folks to come see and drive the truck if you can make it; otherwise I'm happy to answer any questions as truthfully as I can. Again, it's a driver quality truck that is a great start for someone to take it to the next level.
