For Sale: 1932 Packard 903 in Newberg, Oregon

Vehicle Description

1932 Packard 903 Coupe Roadster

Located near PORTLAND, OREGON.

Sold new in Greenwich, Connecticut on August 20th, 1932, this 9th Series Deluxe 8 Packard Coupe Roadster underwent a full concours restoration approximately 20 years ago and has been pampered by the current owner for the last 17 years. Riding on an impressive 142" wheelbase and finished in correct 1932 combination of "Aztec Olivine Light Brown" body and "Aztec Olivine Brown" moldings (paint code "M-b") it is a knockout and never fails to draw comments from viewers. Paint presents well today with a deep shine and only a few minor signs of age. Interior and rumble seat are finished in maroon with excellent leather upholstery and wool carpet. Tan Haartz cloth canvas top with maroon piping. A lovely combination. All chrome was re-plated and is bright with no pitting or damage. Wire wheels wrapped by newer bias ply wide whitewall tires. Optioned with dual side mounted spare wheels and full covers with mirrors, dual Pilot Ray driving lights which turn with the front wheels to light the curves of the road ahead, folding trunk rack and cormorant radiator mascot. Turn signals added for safety in modern traffic.

Mechanically excellent. Under current ownership the original 384 cubic inch, 135 horsepower straight 8 engine was fully rebuilt by a Packard specialist, who formerly worked in the renowned Hill & Vaughn shop in LA. Everything was done right with no expense spared. The Packard starts easily, runs smoothly with plenty of power and LOTS of torque.  Shifts crisply and 4-wheel brakes stop this 4,825 pound car well. Owner has driven it approximately 5,000 miles since the engine rebuild, so it has been dialed in for both touring and show. All lights work. All gauges work (with exception of the King Seeley gas gauge, which are known to rarely work on any car of this age.) Folders of receipts and documents come with the car verifying the service done over the years.

PLEASE SEE VIDEO OF ENGINE STARTING AND RUNNING.

This Packard is truly a standout. Over the past 17 years it has been toured throughout the Northwest on Packard club and CCCA events. It has also been shown locally, regionally and nationally in approximately 300 car shows and concours, where it has received many "Best in Show," "Best in Class," "People's Choice," and special awards. It also received its Primary First Place badge from the Classic Car Club of America.

Just 1,657 "Deluxe 8" Packards (in a total of 27 different body styles) were made in 1932. With the style #519 Coupe-Roadster priced new at $3,750 (when you could buy a Ford V8 for $460!) it is believed that less than 100 were sold by Packard. Today, approximately 10 of these Coupe-Roadsters are known to survive, making it one of the most-desirable and least-available classic Senior Packards made.

Fairly priced based on condition and rarity, it could not be restored to this level today for the asking price.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BUYERS WORLDWIDE AND CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING ANYWHERE.
