Vehicle Description
1990 Ford F150 XLT Lariat Pickup
The great-great-grandfather to the F-150 was the Ford F-1 which
debuted for 1948. It quickly became a favorite of farmers and small
business owners. Despite its name, it never participated in a
Formula 1 race. The F-150 moniker itself debuted for the 1975 model
year, as the name for Ford's half-ton pickup which slotted between
the lighter-duty F-100 and the heavier-duty F-250. Massive
popularity soon ensued. How massive? So much so that the Ford
F-Series has been not only the best-selling pickup for nearly 40
years running, but the best-selling vehicle for the last 34 years.
It has consistently outsold such hugely popular rides as the Honda
Accord and Toyota Camry. The F-Series trucks are so popular that
their total production comes in at a whopping 32 million trucks. In
2018 Ford sold over 1.075 million F-Series trucks, averaging a sale
every 29.3 seconds.
For consignment, a generation 3 version of the popular Ford F150
pickup. It has had 3 owners, has new paint, and is an XLT, (added
features), and Lariat trim which is slightly more upscale. From the
condition of the bed it was a worker bee but well cared for.
Exterior
Brown metallic covers the straight steel of this pickup on its
uppers and lowers. With a thin chromed trimming above and below, a
gold spray is in the canter. Badging and dual gas doors are on the
drivers side, and the passenger side just badging. A simple grille
with a square headlight leads the way and these flank a horizontal
grille, again somewhat utilitarian in its design. Large mirrors
hang off the sides of the doors and glass is all in good condition.
The bed has a black plastic liner and it's seen some use. The paint
is slightly chipped around the edges of the bed and the tailgate
inner and outer shows some wear, but is nice and rust free. 15-inch
drilled aluminum wheels are wrapped in 31x10.5R15LT's Bridgestones
on all 4 corners.
Interior
Some wear in this area we see a bench seat with a covering. Pulling
it back reveals broadcloth seats have worn through hence the
covering. This bench stretches from door to door, and these doors
have a tan plastic panel molded for inserts. Some vertical stitched
broadcloth is in an upper panel within the plastic and is a lighter
tan. Power windows and power locks are noted. Upfront the factory
tan topped dash with a black wrap around square and rectangle
instrument panel front the factory wheel. These panels are slightly
worn and show some dirt. In the center are temperature sliders and
an aftermarket JVC AM/FM/CD radio is installed. Gold carpeting
covers the floors and is slightly faded. Above is a fuzzy
broadcloth headliner in darker tan.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 5.0 liter V8 which is the engine the factory
put in. It has EFI and an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission on
back with a Ford 3.55 geared axle. Lots of patina and road dirt and
dust are under this hood on the engine.
Undercarriage
Spotty black rattle can respray covers some of the framing and rear
axle. The floor pans and inner fenders just have patina and road
dirt. The exhaust system shows some surface rust. Radius arm and
coil springs are in front and in back are leaf springs for the
suspension. Power disc brakes are upfront, and power drums are on
back. New rear brakes, new rear shocks and the rear axle was
recently serviced.
Drive-Ability
It fired right up and on the track it performed wonderfully.
Steering was easy and save for the areas of the seats which have
worn away under the bench covering the truck was comfy. The AC did
not blow cold and the fuel sending unit for the front tank is not
working.
This used example is ready to roll, albeit with the aforementioned
issues, but is an all working example. Ready, willing and able to
be your next hauler or daily driver.
