For Sale: 1939 Ford COE in Rancho Dominguez, California

Vehicle Description

This 1939 Ford COE Resto-mod is an example of classic style and modern performance in one unique truck. Built over the course of 2 1/2 years. Starting with all steel ’39 Ford COE cab which was shaved and filled to remove anything that made it look like a commercial truck, the bed was then custom fabricated using a 1956 Ford truck bed with the panels and tailgate from a 1940 Ford truck bed and was lined with African Purpleheart and Birdseye Maple. Next, 1940 Ford fenders were fit that were cut and widened, and a set of custom running boards were fabricated to fit the truck while a pair of 1940 Ford passenger car bumpers finish off the look while custom hinges and gas struts back up the smoothed COE hood and chromed Ford truck grille. The handcrafted COE body sits a shortened 1985 Chevrolet 1-ton dually chassis that features Belltech drop spindles up front while out back the rear end has been c-sectioned with the leaf springs mounted on top of the axle to give the truck that low old school look. A 9-inch power brake booster with Corvette master cylinder, stainless-steel lines, and front disc brakes work to slow down the Ford, which gets it motivation from a 2003 5.7L LS1 V-8 engine backed by a 4L60E overdrive automatic transmission. Engine management is taken care of by a tuned factory electronic control unit for dependable performance while a custom-fabricated 18-gallon fuel tank supplies the juice for the entire setup and to give the truck the proper sound, the engine breathes through a custom 2.5-inch exhaust with glass pack mufflers. Inside the cab, the two-tone leather interior was stitched by Gabe Lopez of Gabe's Custom Interiors, and the dashboard was customized to accept Haneline gauges. Other interior features include Old Air climate control and a Sony sound system along with a Billet Specialties steering wheel mounted on a Flaming River tilt column. The COE rides on a set of Mastercraft tires mounted on 16x6-inch Ultra dually wheels out back and singles up front and the entire truck is finished in single-stage Wineberry by PPG, which shows gorgeously. With its classic looks backed up by its modern amenities, functionality and performance, this ’39 Ford is the pinnacle of the definition of Resto-mod and although they have become increasingly more popular in recent years and thus more commonplace, this 1939 COE truly stands alone as a one-of-a-kind classic.
