Recently I received the 1953 DeSoto Adventurer I show car bodied by Ghia. It was first shown at the introduction of the 1954 model year cars, and was powered by (what else?) the Firedome V8. It was a four-passenger coupe with sporting pretensions. Period B&W photos show a darker color, but perhaps not the silver Matrix also offers this car in. I found other period pictures depicting this cream version.
Ghia followed this up with their own update based on their "supersonic" design, which had been seen on Fiat and Jaguar chassis. Unique to this car was a rear window that could be slid into the trunk area, providing a sort-of sunroof. Once again there was Firedome power. The first owner was King Mohammed V of Morocco, but made its way back to the US, appearing at Pebble Beach a couple times. The Matrix model is from 2015, and has the rear window drawn back.
Outstanding models Harv. I prefer the white. The Morocco Royal Family send every year to the Malaga Classic Car Show some of their cars. They also have in Rabat a little museum with their collection. I should investigate to make a visit as soon as possible as Morocco is very near my city.
As a curiosity about the relationship of Ghia and Chrysler, when Ford purchased Ghia they stopped producing special coachwork for Chrysler Group, so some Imperial Limousine were sent to the Spanish manufacturer Barreiros to be ended. One of this 'Spanish' Imperial Barreiros bodied was sent to Franco and another was purchased by the late actress Sara Montiel, starring in the film 'Veracruz', and others.

Thanks Harvey for the great review and Keko for your comments. The DeSoto Adventurer is on my want list.
I have the red car and absolutely love it. Now I want that 53, gorgeous.
Great models here Harv. It is interesting, that while GM went 'space age' with its concept cars in the 1950s, Chrysler went European look.
I love these Ghia creations. I'll take the European look every time.

Harv, I'm with the rest; I like these Ghia concepts. But here's my question: Stylistically, where does this one fit in? (Just having fun!)
Excellent posting. Nice review, Harv!

Here's a photo a '54 Chrysler Ghia that my friend and I had at Pebble Beach along with the model of the car. No a big fan of the headlight placement.
Looks like a great model Curtis. Was it custom-made?
