Of the many automobile posters on my Garage Wall, the 1955 DESOTO ad's are among my favorites. I loved everything about the '55 DeSoto!
SOME FUN FACTS:
The 1955 DeSoto Firedome Eight Sedan priced at $2,498 and weighed 3,810 pounds. The "Eight" model replaced the Powermaster Six. DeSoto discontinued the 6-cylinder models in 1954. A total of 26,637 Firedome's were built in '55.
DeSoto's Fireflite Sportsman Hardtop Coupe could be purchased for $2,939 tipped the scales at 3,885 pounds. Production totaled 28, 944 cars. The Sportsman was also available as a Firedome for $2,541 with only 10,313 cars built.
Also offered for '55 was the Estate Wagon that came only in the Firedome series. Oddly enough, it wears the deluxe trim package on its side panels that was reserved for the Fireflite models. The Estate Wagon was the most expensive DeSoto built, at $3,170 and yet it was in the low priced series category. It weighed 4,175 pounds. Only 625 Firedome wagons were built in 1955.

I loved these ads George, thanks!. This year is my favorite DeSoto.
Delightful! Delovely! DeSoto! See your Desoto Plymouth dealer tomorrow. Tell him Groucho sent you.
Thank you for this wonderful series of car advertising George. The fun facts really ad to the feature. I look forward to others.
The '55 DeSoto is a beautiful car. One I appreciate every time I see one, which unfortunately is seldom. They just don't seem to come around very often.
I consider myself very fortunate to have 4 of them in 1:43 white metal model form. A Fireflite Sportsman Hdtp, a Fireflite Convertible, a Fireflite Coronado 4dr Sedan and a Firedome Wagon. So when I need a fix, they are all there displayed and ready.

@david-green, THANK YOU! I'm glad you (and hopefully others) are enjoying this feature. Right now I'm having some major computer issues. I don't have access to my car files at present while my computer is not working, so it may be awhile before I am up and running again.
But I plan to be back with more soon, so stay tuned....
