Ford SVT Contour (Mondeo ST200)

Update to this thread. After giving #525 a super cleaning, it is sold!

If anyone wants to look through that.

I drove 18hr to get a super clean Toreador Red SVT. Single owner car, very well kept. I want to keep this one as a stock unit and preserve it, while #2019 will continue to get modifications slowly over time.

Long awaited, I finally received my build certificate for #2019. (Silver car, black hood, red wheels) Now I need to order one for the red car, which is #2497.

Today I removed and replaced the lower grill mesh on the red car. The orginial one had obviously taken a few hits over the years, or some careless mechanic poked holes in it. Either way this is a very easy job if you remove the bumper. I didn’t do it the easy way.

But it is done! and is another nice touch on making this car that much closer to pristine. I also found a set of spark plug loom holders I had saved from my part out of the black car, it really cleans up the engine bay.

Yes, life is good for Red car.

Likely one of the last times I’ll take #525 out for any kind of a photoshoot, in theory, it’s new owner will be here December!

Some super sticky tires for #2019 for the upcoming April 16th track day. I plan to take the wheels to get mounted tomorrow. Then do a few drives on the tires to give them a chance to really seat in to the wheel, and get a cycle or two though them.

There will be much fun, we hope.

An update in the life of an SVT Contour addict. I’ve sold the car, I have the money, he has the title. Why do I still have the car in my possession??

Well, lets at least clean it so I don’t look like a slob…

I took 2019 for a good long drive to celebrate that I have finally named the car: Theseus.

In honor of the philosophical debate on the Ship of Theseus, which boiled down to the most basic concept, is; if an object, over the course of it’s existence, has had the sum of its parts changed, still the same object it started out as, or an entirely new thing?

Over the time I’ve owned the car, I have well over half of the entire car, baring the doors, glass, rear fenders, the engine block and heads. But most other items have been replace with parts from other donors, or outright replaced with new parts. So, I find this name most fitting.

I feel it. Mine is like that too, but it simply took the moniker of a zombie car, for it’s made of 5 or 6 cars. Not that it is her name, but still.

Back to Focus SVT brakes again, but this time doing it properly, no caliper relocaiton bracket, just the whole SVT Focus caliper, along with some drilled/slotted rotors from Stop-Tech.

That, and the Goodyear Eagle F1s are done, they were 7 years old now… I was given some hardly used, and much younger BF Goodrich g-force Comp 2s. I did not paint the leters, but I’m going to really clean the wheels and re-paint them correctly.

The track day was a blast. We were allowed to go out during lunch and get some vanity shots, on top of the photos we were able to get from the day itself.
