Got the chance to do my first motorcycle photoshoot thanks to a friend of mine. Not knowing what to expect, I really wasn't sure on what to do regarding the kind of pictures I wanted. Compared to a car, a bike (in my opinion) looks good from all angles, it's just a matter of which angles I wanted to use.
When I arrived at my usual location for shoots, I quickly noticed how big of an area I had for one little bike; which is exactly what I wanted. The more space I have, the better, because I could move around my subject more freely and not get bogged down by a wall or an awkward position, although sometimes awkward positions could give you some nice pictures o_o
Lighting up the bike was fairly easy since I didn't have as many curves/hard angles on the body unlike a car. The bike was beautiful and really fun to work with, however it was black. Black anything doesn't play well nor cooperate with any artificial light source, especially gloss black, so I had to set up my flash at different angles in order to get the right exposure of the different parts of the bike.
I used a combination of lenses in order to get the right pictures, but I was mainly in the 50mm range since, given the subject and situation, I could freely move in close or back away when needed.
All in all, I had a lot of fun doing this photoshoot. It's always a good time when you have friends around while you do a shoot, to me at least. I look forward to doing more photoshoots with motorcycles so If you know anyone or if you have a bike/scooter yourself, don't hesitate to contact us.
