Good morning Campus Life & Engage!
As a McGill grad student, you have many technology and media services available to you. Since the Fall semester will be delivered remotely, you should get acquainted with these services as you will be needing them during your time at McGill.

Getting Connected
|
|
Email: Your McGill Email Address (usually in the form of firstname.lastname@mail.mcgill.ca) is the only official way the University communicates with you. The McGill email service gives you a 50 GB mailbox on Microsoft Office 365. You can access your email directly through the Microsoft Office 365 Outlook Web App (OWA). Sign in using your McGill Username (email) and McGill Password. There are many tools accessible through your email including a “To Do” app, calendar, whiteboard, etc.
Email on mobile devices: You can get your McGill email delivered to an iOS or Android device, or many other Exchange-capable smartphones.
Connecting to McGill's VPN allows you to access campus-restricted systems (including accessing uPrint off campus) from anywhere, so you can continue your research and study.
eduroam: You can use your McGill Username and Password to log into wireless networks at participating universities in Europe, Canada, Asia, and Australia.

Learning Tools
|
|
myCourses: myCourses is McGill's online learning management system that delivers course content and announcements, multimedia, grades, and surveys, as well as tools for discussion, assessment, and assignments.
myProgress: This tool is used to track and monitor progress towards your degree. It will be accessible upon registration.
Zoom: As a McGill Graduate Student, you will have access to a basic Zoom license which will give you the ability to attend lectures online, as well as virtual office hours with professors and more. Sign up with your McGill email to access the platform. Check out the “Learning with Zoom” webinars below!
McGill Library: Our library provides many services which are of particular interest for Graduate Students. Library services are available as of registration, and include a large digital collection thanks to a donation by HathiTrust Digital Library, liaison librarians that are available for consultation regarding any questions on sources, research services, and research data services. Library services are currently provided virtually.

IT Services: Should you ever need any tech support, IT Services is here to help! You can search their extensive Knowledge Base, submit support tickets, or contact the IT Services Desk via email or phone.
Minerva: On Minerva you have the ability to plan and register for classes, find your student records, and access financial information.
Office 365 ProPlus: You have free access to the latest version of Office 365 ProPlus, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office apps. As long as you’re a student at McGill University, you’ll be able to continue to use it at no charge and will receive automatic software updates.
OneDrive (cloud file storage): Along with Office 365 ProPlus, you also have free access to Microsoft OneDrive for Business, a cloud-based file storage and file sharing service that provides virtually unlimited file space for your personal use, and the ability to share files with friends and colleagues both at McGill and outside.

Tuesday June 30: Learning with Zoom
Interested in learning the basics of Zoom for engaging in your Fall courses? This interactive webinar will let you explore and familiarize yourself with Zoom, a reliable web conferencing tool that allows instructors to convene online meetings with students, chat with or without video enabled, and deliver presentations. We will go over how to use Zoom as a student, practice using some common features, and give you tips and techniques to support your remote learning success.
Friday July 3: GLO: Introduction to Grad Studies
Everything you need to know about how to smoothly transition into the academic and social environments at McGill, including resources and advice. The GLO webinars are an integral part of the GradLife Online Orientation, so be sure to register for one of the many sessions running throughout the summer!
