Daewoo Racer 93 , was introduced in Pakistan in Taxi Scheme back in 1993 as a Yellow Cab , I remember when the first time as 12 years old I went to see this car I didn’t much charm in it, but one thing was different than others, Reverse Gear was UP instead of Down, It was Next to 1st Gear. Anyways in 1998 I bought my first Daewoo Ofcourse It was Taxi, on that time most of the bank defaulted Taxi’s were Standing on the port for least 4 years in 1998 They were Reconditioned to sell as Private Car and Given to Government Officers too. In 1998, Price of a Brand New Daewoo Racer was Just 265,000/- Rupees. But I took a short way and I got Taxi which was already on the Road and got it Paint two tone Black and Silver. That was my first 1500cc Experience before this I had driven Suzuki FX , Mehran , Datsum 120-Y 79 Model, but never had a change to know this beast.
As I started driving this car, I was not familiar with the feature and functions but driving around in a city Black and Silver tone, with Taxi number simply Who’s cares, people used to say Daewoo TAXI. like its cheat crap car, but first time when I took it on the Seaview Straight Long No Bumbs , at night time to Test this Baby, I remember It Thrilled my Soul, The torque, acceleration handling was amazing. I fell in love with Daewoo at first drive ! Than I started to know more about it and it gave me Free option to Test my Skills While Phase 8 was Under Construction Area and Petrol wasn’t expensive, I was burning the years, right over there I learn’t how to drift and It drifts so smooth but I cannot explain in words. The Rear suspension is totally Amazing shocks not attached with Wheels but rear wheel had nothing from top, It’s like Dirt Track Bike suspension, same Daewoo Racer has. right below the back Seat Left and Right in between fuel Tank. Honestly it’s one car which is more comfortable by being on the back seat and one reason I never Liked Toyota Collora, Seats are worse, gives you pain, but daewoo makes you sleep no matter how fast and how rough the road is, you won’t feel the bump on the back seat.
In year 2003, I got my other Daewoo Know as Black Bird ( D2 ) which was Private Number I Customized the Car, by replacing front and rear lights with Crystal lights, RIM,( 4 Sparking plugs by BMW , Front Shocks KYB , Side Mirror Led Indicators , Auto Lock , Central Locking , Dual Coils and waterbody and Wheels 175/R13 Interior changes where unique from any other Daewoo in Pakistan, I guess I was lucky to have Special Edition Dash Board Wooden work and Entire Wooden Color. My Test runs used to be on the Super Highway Karachi – Hyderabad Distance Toll to Toll 130 KM My Best Time being in my Senses not Insane On Daewoo is 1 hour 1 Minute. The Reason I prepared this Car was not just for fun but for the Drag Racing That’s where Competition used to happen between Daewoo , Honda Oriel , Toyota GLi , Maza 323 Sedan Class B cars and I had few advantages being a Daewoo Driver.
Since The Daewoo is SOHC ( Single Over Head Cam ) Engine , 1500 cc , 4 Speed Manual Transmission , 4 Cylinder , EFi 
Front Disc rear Drum Brakes, It produces 125 Horse Power with 180 Kmph Top Speed, I guess Company made a mistake by giving a meter which had only 180 Max, but 1st Gear Ratio of Daewoo is 25% plus as compared to Honda or Toyota, Why because It has only 4 Gears while Rivals got 5th Double Top. Many people think having 5 Gear is an advantage than I must remind to search internet The Faster Car In 1976 was not Ford or Benz but Mazda and the only advantage it had to be the faster was 3 Speed Transmission, It was Rocket on The Road. Before This I had my Daewoo for Drag Racing and later in between years I had Charade GTTi . But after returning in the Daewoo’s Cabin I was confident enough to compete with Rival Vehicles, the way I remember those weekend nights I call it ” The Days Of Thunder” Betting on Racing winning and loosing, Time Trial, P8 2 AP n Back means ( Phase 8 to Airport turning from departure lane returning back to where started. Distance It was 34 KM overall and my Best time been 20 Minutes.
Race days got over by 2004 but even than on the road I never given a bit of relaxation to myself for staying behind because if I loose ( I’ll Court Martial myself ) Conviction Results NO DRIVING FOR A MONTH. that was tough one for being the judge and the convicted one. In 2007 I bought 3rd daewoo because I had worst Major accident In Daewoo but was totally unharmed My Car was totally smashed, well I wasn’t drunk nor lost my senses but thanks for parking a car in the middle lane and going by foot to get the fuel on the main road. These are couple of images after the accident.
Well I lost the car and for next 6 months I didn’t drive, that was first and the only period in my life I didn’t Drive not because It was my mistake or not but I lost my car. after 8 months in 2008 I got Daewoo Racer again and this time I wanted for the Long Run, so I modified for Long Routes unlike previous one, yet I did changed and customized because I have good command and knowledge about Vehicles, Many times on Highway I have broken the Niddle, for a driver its an award you can say to go very till the edge, I had Daewoo Friends Gathering , Racing , Experimenting , Practicing , had fun with them from all around Pakistan, Mostly were senior in driving experience and age but I was smartest one so they had to very careful.
In doing all this one of the Technic which became as Pioneer one was DD Digital Driving !
Well Driver on the Driving Seat would Control Pedals and Wheel he won’t change the Gears , The Driver on the Po-Pilot ( i call ) seat will change the Gear as needed but in this entire process of driving a Manual car Like Automatic , 2nd Driver has to sync Mind timing with 1st Driver to be sure enough when exactly Clutch is pressed and shift, This DD Mode it difficult and Dangerous too, unless you have someone who understand Driving well enough to measure RPM by Engine Noise and When Exactly Driver needs to Change in between no talks. In This Mode so far I had experience with 1 person but it’s makes you Go in a blink since Ratios aren’t set by Gearbox but RPM and as you need and 2nd Driver knows when where which Gear, so your concentration is on the Road while Manual Stick Job is being Job by 2nd Driver.
My D-III , 3rd Daewoo was this, I had Black Rim with Neon Blue Lines totally rough and tough, customized had DVD Theater inside with Sub Woofers ( Dual ) in the trunk, while This Car been hell amazing with me, that when ever I had a chance to drive Toyota corolla or Honda I felt please I want Marlboro Hard not Dunhill Lights. People didn’t appreciated this car all thou Fuel average was way better than it’s specification and weight, I had CNG into and 55 KG On a highway 140 KM No Issue, Best CNG full tank Daewoo Record is 171 KM . I couldn’t believe but it’ s all driver Technic Trust me. to drive in Eco mode, not accelerating the RPM keeping under 50%. Not to shift Gears, but control and manage in 4th Top Gear. If 5th than same rule on it, no matter how slow cars gets it will recover with-in 10 – 15 seconds, both I have experienced Economical Drive and Racing ! I lost this Car, Got Stolen FIR Register but It’s Pakistan, some say Who would Steel Daewoo, My Answer to them, The Things which were in it and the way Engine suspension was customized why wouldn’t anyone. its been more than 14 months and I miss My Daewoo. Only a Miracle or Prayers can get me back in Daewoo’s Cabin.
Daewooo Racer is undoubtedly, My Signature Car ! Now Many Beasts are on road and People don’t drive as they used too, Those who born and raised in the TOP GUN Era None of Them was Ever slow specially Teen and 20s . But I’ll carry my Dream To Set The Top Speed Record In Pakistan where as there are so many things which I cannot share confidential 🙂 .
Daewoo Racer is known as Opel Kaddet in Europe both has same specification and Engine the only difference is back 85 Opel Kaddet came 2 Doors and Daewoo Racer 4 doors . Still In Euro People Love Opel Kaddet and Here Daewoo Racer Because the Chemistry is Same, It’s just as the perfect driver wants. Soft Core Cars are hell to maintain but Hard core one requires efforts but It wouldn’t get to loose that’s for sure and personal experience It wouldn’t even let you die, Fasten your Seat Belts, When your On Driving Seat make it a habbit to Check all before you make a move on the journey far or close. I was really amazing recalling those times, Damn Good Times and sharing with you all, because I am sure there are millions of Speed Freaks like me those who don’t like to play game on the LCD screen, but keeping their life on the line. ” I salute to those who dare ” to know what’s beyond Fear ! Count me In I found it and I know the way too, Driving Speeding is Obsession, Craze , Addiction ! Give this up in your entire life. You control your Brain while racing or driving like hands and feet don’t even know what to do …

mehran(i hate this car) toyota only but seriously no one knows how much owesum a daewoo is other then a daewoo owner my average speed on cng is 140-150 on motorway with my family must say alot of load with a.c n that much speed on cng damn no car can give u better then a daewoo even we used to load alot of grains with 5-6 peoples this car never dissapointed me i use to drive it on our village road named as chakwal road
well my story begins with daewoo my dad is was an airforce officer retired now he bought a daewoo as a taxi scheme in 93 and later on he got it painted by the company well i must say i was brought up in this car my dad used to drive it only and it was driven only 40,000 kilometers till 2002 my dad loved this car as we were having a blue xe 98 corolla to0 ,service car by airforce with a driver my dad used that car moslty n daewoo used to rest in the garage can u beleive my dad ordered 1 of our butman just to wash n polish both the cars
well i used to sit with my dad watching him how he drives the car 😛
i was crazy at that tym to drive a car in 2002 i started starting the car moving it backwards n forward only in the garage then day by day my the route became longer lol 😛 i used to drive it inside the bunglow 😀 n afterwards inside the base area astonishing every1 a small boy on a beast haha ,used to show my frnds i can drive n all the things without coming into the notice of my dad i must say the destruction tym of my frst love started with me when i smashed its driving syd door on the gate
got scolded by dad but afterwards i got the permission as dad blushed everytym that my son is young enough now from that tym to till day m driving this car had done each n everything i wanted to this car never dissapointed me my dad was having other cars to0,tym to tym he used to change cars like now he’s having a prosmatec 1.8 but seriuosly the way i trust my daewoo i can’t even have that much trust on my self this car made me that much owesum driver a drifter,dragger,mountainious area driver a fully package of a driver ahhhh whatelse a young guy would want i must say amazing,marvelous m having no words to xplain this car

when i bought my daewoo the headlights were dull and rusted. on some one’s advise i got those chromed, installed extra relays and good bulbs, but no marked improvement in light.
How can i improve my headlight quality. how did u find crystal lights. where can i get these from. is any other car lights replaceable without alteration in Daewoo

There is a shop in Plaza which deals in Daewoo parts , you can get brand new lights from there I dont know how much are they for now but available. NEW are the best option i wouldnt suggest to go for chrome and all, waste of money .
right where the main signal is incoming side to mazar-e-quaid Plaza u will see shop there just few shops after signal Daewoo parts ,
I got them made lights , dashboard , meter indicators not available here , most of the parts for the engine modification were Open Kaddet Europe.
The condition as u mentioned its MINT i must say lights issue I can understand 100 percent New lights will resolve it easily ! there is no need to get alternation lights when u can get new

I have traced two shops for daewoo lights. but these were not crystal lights. instead they said its made to original specs in Taiwan with better reflector coating. cost for both lights 4000/00
shops were aslam autos on right hand side when coming from Radio Pakistan just after crossing Tibet center signal
the other one is on opposite side in broad alley ( or gulley) NIPPON AUTOS (3900/00 for both lights)

some more clarification on your following driving tips are required:
1. Get all 4 wheels washed properly from suspension end and grease them. once in a 4 months at least.
2. Never step on throttle full constantly, it waste emission and instead of being efficient. (pls clarify constantly, for instance if i adjust pressure on accelerator to hold it around speed of 90).
3. Try not to change gears again and again, vehicle can recover from even 5 to 10 kmph speed in same gear ( like Top Gear ) (does it mean that 3rd gear can be used as when normal drivers would want to shift in 2nd due low speed, similarly 4th as replacement for 3rd).
Most importantly picking up in top gear from zero without knocking ( which i guess would not happen on CNG)

I used 4 sparking plugs BMW , but normal one Denso would work fine

KYB Shocks ( Jumps ) if not available, replace with good one, I would suggest replacing , mechanic anyone can not issue

Opposite FTC there is Caltax on shahra-e-faisal , behind it there is a Big shop for oil and Greasing take there they will do it.
mine was different Racer case so I did all myself .

CPU manages all the operation full of Half its automatically adjusted , if engine is making noise thats Pressure plate and ( Gear box issue )

Daewoo is one vehicle which doesnt require gear shifting as normal car does even in 4th gear on 10 KMPH it can recover easily back to top speed depends on the driver skill . you can drive all around city without changing the Gear ( Only in 4th Top gear ) 3rd will heat up the engine. DONT

It’s one vechicle in my life which had 3 fuels ( CNG , LGP , Petrol ) depending on my mood of Drive , it doesnt do knocking at all on any, LPG is highly powerful for racing but Short lenth ( 5 to 10 Km ) else it would freeze , It doesn’t do knocking on CNG , Adjust CNG )

Brand new you cant now better replace the parts which are essential with time like Rings specially, timing belt, etc..

– Change the Gear when cross 6500 PRM
– Get Practice and improve timing in changing Gears as quick as possible
– Make sure your wheel alignment / balancing is done
– Make sure Engine is not Cold Just Started ( least Race after 30 mins warm up )
– Make sure Breaks are working properly including Emergency ( Hand Brake ) just incase .
– Gear Ratio in Daewoo 1st , 20 Change , 2nd 70 Change , 3rd 105 , 4th goes on
– 1st and 3rd are the key to win ! pick up dont spin wheels

Im in need of Mechanic for Daewoo 93 that could adjust Petrol and CNG cauz I have been to 3 or 4 Mechanics they just ruined its tuning that Its Indicating Engine check light and petrol consumtion has gone 3km per litre and on CNG its been 40 to 50 km Per cylinder of 55KG Im depressed I have already tried changing ECU box but still same result Im not getting any where. You can place disc brakes in front and rear suspension, I didn’t get a chance to it but it’s possible to upgrade it .
