Belgian team Ecurie Francorchamps entered Ferrari 500 painted in the Belgian yellow colors, in few races of the 1952 – 1954 seasons. Charles de Tornaco was the co-founder of Ecurie Belgique, which later became Ecurie Francorchamps. In the 1952 season he finished 7th at his home Belgian Grand Prix, also being a starter at Zandvoort and Monza. Next season de Tornaco raced at few non-championship races finishing best as 5th at Circuit de Cadours. In practice for the Modena Grand Prix in 1953, de Tornaco rolled his car and suffered serious head and neck injuries. There were no adequate medical facilities present, and he died on his way to hospital in a private saloon car.
