Description
This 1989 Toyota Supra is a sympathetically upgraded car that from factory was finished in Super Red (3E5). The exterior has been recently wrapped in vibrant red by the seller. Offered for sale privately by the seller, this MkIII Supra is currently located in the Greater Toronto Area and is currently registered in Ontario, Canada.
This Supra was optioned with a Targa Top and enjoys factory styling tweaks and improvements made by Toyota for the 1989 model year, including a new front-bumper assembly with a vertical element that bisects the grille and sweeps up to the overhang above it, plus freshened taillamps at the rear.
Exterior styling and performance upgrades by the current owner include the addition of 18x9-inch five-spoke racing wheels and lowered suspension. Stopping performance has also been improved with the addition of 15-inch Brembo rotors and dual-piston calipers at the front.
Drivetrain improvements have been made to match engine performance like the installation of a W58 MKIV Supra manual transmission conversion. From factory the Supra features a limited slip differential. The seller says both the engine and transmission have approximately 73k-km on them and the seller mentions he has service documentation for regular oil changes and other basic maintenance throughout the vehicles life. The seller mentions the paint under the wrap has been sanded and primered.
The car’s interior is largely original, the cloth upholstery is free of rips and tears, showing only minor wear commensurate with the car’s age. The dash is said to be crack and blemish free. The seller has added a quick-release Sparco racing wheel, a short-shift kit with Sparco racing shift knob, and a boost gauge. An aftermarket Bluetooth head unit provides an updated audio experience.
The current owner has had the car for about a year, having purchased it from a friend. Since his ownership, it has only seen about 1000km of use and the seller mentions it has otherwise been kept under cover in a garage. The Supra recently enjoyed a service to change fuses, add a relay for the fan, and otherwise ensure that the next owner has an enjoyable, performance classic.
Under the hood, this Supra has benefitted from a careful selection of upgrades with an eye to performance, including swapping in a non-VVTI (variable valve timing and ignition) engine (1JZ) which was further modified with a single, Rev 9 turbo as well as external wastegate, a three-inch Rev 9 intercooler, and a Rev-9 performance exhaust header. The downpipe has been routed out the hood and the hood panel has been modified to allow it to do so. The seller estimates power output at around 400hp and 380ft-lbs of torque. A Walbaro fuel pump helps ensure accurate and consistent fuel delivery to the engine under all driving conditions.
