Nygex
My customer wants to go with a new color but I suggested he stick with one of the original colors from 1973. Now, we're trying to figure out which would be best. Looking at pictures, it seems the Burnt Coral really shows the lines of the car the best. I know color is subjective but any thoughts on which color really makes the contours pop? We might add a little pearl just to make it show even more. EmTee
Burnt Coral was exclusive to the Riviera and I think it would be a terrific choice. Adding a hint of pearl would really make it pop, as long as strict authenticity of color isn't an issue with the owner.
Seafoam65
Agreed....Burnt coral is the most striking color on a 73 Riviera.
Tmann
Couldn't agree more!...You can never go wrong with Burnt Coral on a 73 Riviera.
Chimera
What is the original color paint and interior? Burnt Coral is excellent if staying within the 73 year. Willow Green is also kinda nice. Paint colors to consider if you go outside of 73 could include: Sunset Sage Midnight Aqua Turquoise Mist
JZRIV
Depends what color interior and vinyl top if there is one. Think burnt coral goes best with black. Midnight blue is stunning as well. Definitely want to stick with a 73 color available on the Riviera. RivNut
Lighter colors highlight body lines better. Autumn Gold would also be a good candidate.
Chimera
We used to have a 73 in Burnt Coral, yet I never checked the tag so it could have been burgundy. Black interior with no vinyl top. Certainly the paint is worn here, yet it did have a nice fire/sparkle to it in the sun.

RivNut
Silver is also great for highlighting body lines. Edited October 27, 2021 by RivNut (see edit history)

Is the car going to have a vinyl roof? In my experience in design, the INTERACTION of two colors provides more interest than a monotone covering all surfaces. In my opinion, a dark color with a light colored (white) vinyl roof can be striking. The colors you select should, of course, be complementary and complimentary to the interior color. I would ABSOLUTELY NOT recommend adding pearl to any color. To knowing old-car fans, it will immediately be apparent that the paint isn't right. It will appear as a "custom" or "restorod" and not as an AACA-eligible antique car. It could make the car harder to sell eventually and hurt its value. Buick colorists were experts, and we can enjoy the colors that were available from the factory. Here's my '73 in burgundy with a white vinyl roof: Edited October 27, 2021 by John_S_in_Penna (see edit history)
John_S_in_Penna
Here are a few internet pictures I have saved over the years, showing '73 Rivieras in some other colors, black and green. The green in the picture may be "green-gold metallic": Edited October 27, 2021 by John_S_in_Penna (see edit history)

Ed, That was the color of my '73 which I owned long ago...except the PO removed the burgundy half vinyl top. I don't recall the name of the color but it was a blend of Silver and Champagne and stunning against the burgundy interior...just a beautiful color...it was a BCA senior car Tom
RivNut
In 1971, I had a 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6. I painted it silver with burgundy interior. Then kid #2 came along in 1974. Picture from the web. Brings a tear to my eye.
NC1968Riviera
This picture is of a 1973 Riv with Burnt Coral paint. Images is from a 1970s color slide in my collection. I took this picture at the 2019 ROA Meet in Gettysburg, PA.
Nygex
Thanks a lot for all the suggestions. Sorry, it took me awhile to get back to this. It is currently Burgundy with white vinyl top and interior but the previous owner must have done a quick job to put it on market, a tape and spray job. Sound advice on the pearl addition. I sometimes get a little carried away

jrbartlett
I had a brand-new Willow Green '73 back in the day. It had a darker green vinyl top. Looking at all the colors above with today's taste, I think the silver is the most attractive.
