A United Airlines jet traveling from San Francisco to Osaka, Japan, made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday after losing a tire during takeoff.
UA 35, which was carrying 235 passengers, 10 flight attendants and 4 pilots, departed SFO at 11:23 a.m.
KTLA sister station KRON4 obtained footage of the tire coming off the aircraft’s left landing gear and falling into a parking lot used by airport employees. Several vehicles were damaged, according to KRON4.

An airport spokesperson said a runway at SFO was briefly closed to remove debris and reopened shortly after.
The flight was diverted to LAX, where Sky5 helicopter footage showed the Boeing 777 landing without incident at 1:27 p.m. and being immediately surrounded by emergency crews.
“We are arranging for a new aircraft to continue this trip for our customers,” a United Airlines spokesperson told KRON 4.
Boeing 777s have 14 tires, including 12 on its main landing gear struts, and are designed to land safely with missing or damaged tires, a United Airlines spokesperson said.
