Handsome 1-owner 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider for sale at Left Coast Classics. This attractive Alfa was purchased new at Brown Motors, Inc in San Rafael, California on May 8th of 1976 finished in Rosso Alfa with a Nero interior. It includes it's original owner's manual, service coupon book, owner service card, and originally issued title.

This prized Alfa has spent its entire life living indoors living between the Palm Springs area and the Sonoma wine country and has been fastidiously cared for since new. Its airplane pilot owner has spared no expense keeping it looking and driving its best. It currently shows a little over 22,000 miles though the actual mileage is believed to be around 60,000. It has never been a daily driver but rather a pleasure car.

This lovely old Alfa starts; runs and drives beautifully. The braking, suspension, and steering are tight and accurate and the rebuilt 2000cc inline 4-cylinder has plenty of power. The car starts easily and The Spica fuel injection system is tuned and trouble-free. The newer exhaust exemplifies how an Alfa of this era should sound and the car shifts with ease up and down all five gears.

The second gear synchro, a common weak point on Alfas works well. At around 45,000 miles the car was running fine, but the owner being an airplane pilot couldn't pass up on the opportunity to rebuild the engine when his skilled mechanic and race car driver friend Dallas Anderson offered. When I asked about the mileage discrepancy he assumed that it must have been replaced at some point.

The car was put into storage in around 2011 and by December of 2014, Dallas was no longer in the area so it came to the Bay Areas' top Alfa Romeo specialist in Novato, The Alfaman, Jim Cestarollo. $6,000 in maintenance and repairs were performed to insure its reliability and drivability. The exterior is beautiful. It was professionally stripped and repainted in its original Rosso Alfa around the time that the engine was rebuilt. It looks to have been heavily disassembled and the jambs were refinished at the same time. At first glance, it looks like a nearly fresh factory finish. It is smooth and glossy all around. The chrome and trim look to be well-preserved and original.

The factory alloy wheels were recoated around 5 years ago and are wrapped in Michelin 185/70 R14's with 90% tread though aged and should be replaced. You'll notice from the factory decal on the passenger side that this Alfa is actually still wearing its original windscreen! Overall, the exterior of this pretty Alfa Romeo is handsome as can be.

Inside of the car it retains its original dash, door, and kick panels. The factory reproduction rubber mat that is so rarely seen in these cars now was replaced and the seats were retrimmed in Nero leather with red piping several years ago. The car is very comfortable and highly functional though the radio is currently inoperable.

The car is otherwise highly functional with working wipers, heater, lighting, and gauges. It is very comfortable and the Hartz style cloth convertible top fits beautifully. The trunk is in excellent shape as well and still retains it's original spare and jack and paint.

With the extreme spike in values of the Giulietta-Giulia-Duetto series spiders, this newer era of Alfa Spiders are becoming more sought after every day.
