Local firefighters responded to a truck engulfed by flames on Veterans Highway (Route 413) close to the Sunoco Gas Station as Wednesday night  turned to Thursday morning, in Bristol Township

The white Ford Truck burst into flames after the driver fled the vehicle

Firefighters from Third District and Croydon fire companies arrived on scene and quickly snuffed  out the fire as puffs of thick white cloud mushroomed into the darkened sky.

Motorists were directed to the outer lanes of  Veterans Highway as the fire spit flames, hitting one vehicle that slowed to take a gander on the roof  and landing in front of Third District Fire Chief Ray Finnell’s truck.

Chief Finnell said the unidentified driver was getting set to make a left hand turn when the truck started to smoke and then caught fire.
